    SCART was a french invention. The rest of Europe jumped on the bandwagon when everyone realised how convenient it was.

    Only thing which pisses me off about it is that there is a difference between RGB scart and composite scart. Can't understand why they don't just make them all fully wired RGB.

    None of that makes any sense. Is it too much to ask that you stop and read before you post?

    It's not a true SCART cable unless it's properly wired, which should include composite as well as RGB (check the default SCART pinout; composite is used for sync by most consoles, anyway). The exceptions you're talking about are cheap composite cables that happen to have a SCART block on the end. Essentially this is just a cost issue, composite cables only need three wires + ground, proper RGB SCART cables need a few more.
