Homestar's popularity is an enigma, because its pretty kid friendly.

Its like going past a Hot Topic store and seeing adult sized Nick Jr. shirts with stuff like "There's a Party in my tummy!" on them. And I HAVE seen that. Its strange.

but I mean this site peaked years ago, regardless of demographics. They should have been tapping the merchandise, movie, and game well then.

I disagree that the popularity has peaked just because you don't go there any more - as far as I was aware it's more popular than it's ever been.

The biggest problem is that the sbemails go through phases - a few times there's been a downturn in the quality of the humour in them.

As for it being 'only popular with the young'uns' - well, that's just crap. Quite a bit of the humour - especially old skool gamer humour - would go straight over their heads (like a Pixar film or an episode of Futurama). The focus seems to lie with college/uni students in my opinion as their target demographic.

I think that whilst it's a little later in it's life, now is as good a time as any to release a Homstar Runner game - and I don't think a movie or a TV series would translate overly well in my opinion, after all Weebl and Bob had a crack at it and nothing really happened.

Remember when Strong bad was sleeping and he turns around and starts mumbling super bomberman?

    Good times

Even SBEmail has its off days. The run since 150 has been full of hits like "pizza joint", "mini-golf" and "shapeshifter", but "rated" was pretty lame IMHO. Fortunately this news came out to offset it. :3

Yeah, shirts based on popular kid friendly cartoons, how odd.....

Just because a cartoon doesn't have swearing or much adult-oriented material, doesn't mean it isn't good. The Simpsons is one of the most popular cartoons ever, with kids and grown-ups alike. And a lot of the popularity of old cartoons such as He-Man, Thundercats and the like is the responsibility of those of us that remember these from our childhood. Nothing wrong with that!

I think it's cool that someone's done a game based on the cartoon. A shame it isn't going to be on 360, mind!

The shirt I was talking about was based on a Nick Jr. show. BTW, shirts like that first one just scream "I'M SO RANDOM ROFL"

And especially the one I saw in Hot topic that day.

Speaking of random... What's with kids these days(yes I said it) thinking that randomness is hilarious? Do they not understand that behind most seemingly random comedic acts in their favorite shows/stand up is a somewhat calculated risk and understanding of what MAKES funny...

I'm somewhat a connisseur of comedy and it just kills me when people think I am so hilarious because I am "random". I'm not, I'm calculatingly amazing at making my friends laugh.

I feel I'm in the same boat with ServiceGames and Barcode...

...I don't find Homestar Runner to be any kind of funny at all...and I too consider myself to be a conesieur of comedy.
