I have no idea if it's good or not. Even though Hori make excelent sticks I have no idea about their electronic items. The connection plugs don't seem all that good though. Quite thin or standard wire with no gold plating.

I dunno. Unless a console has specific VGA capabilities (DC) then you need a good upscan converter. The XRGB is the best, and costs way more than that. That tells me something.

Also, composite and SVGA output? I hope that the VGA runs of RGB and isn't converted from one of the others!!

The PS2 can actually output VGA isn't it? The Linux kit can do that (heck, even the Yaroze could apparently), but only with Sync-On-Green monitors.

I thought I heard the Linux kit used an upscan converter? And surely it does composite sync too?

I don't get why upscan converters like these use composite/s-video/component inputs when the PS2 can output RGB perfectly, which wouldn't require any sort of colour conversion or anything and would surely make these converters a damn sight simpler/cheaper to make. Same goes for the Xbox and PAL GCs...

Not only is it easier and cheaper, but gives a purer signal.

Take an RGB source. Push it through a circuit to make it composite. Then the TV has to push it through another to make it RGB again. And here, you're adding an extra link to the chain - further conversion to VGA!!
