i have seen something on house of the dead four and it was suposed to get released for the 360. i have waited about a year or so and they have not put up a release date yet but its in arcades already so im wordering did it get cancelled for the 360?
It never got announced for the Xbox 360. Becouse of a "behind closed doors only" screening at the E3 a few years ago. They showed Afterburner, VF5, Chromehounds, Sonic next-gen and House of the Dead 4. So people just assumed the game was comming for the 360... but it isnt and never will, a hotd4 wii version is possible btw!
On a PC/NVIDIA based system like the aforementioned arcade, I think C++ would be a more likely candidate, no? ;-)
HOTD4 is running on "Lindbergh". A wii-version is comming IF HOTD2&3 returns (Wii) sells enough copys.
I thought lindbergh was based off xbox technology (not sure if 360 or old xbox). speaking of which, i heard tekken 6 arcade board is based off ps3 technology, anybody know the name of the system, though?
The Lindbergh is basically just a PC with a 3Ghz Pentium 4 and a GeForce 6 series GPU. Considering those specs, it's incredibly weak compared to any of the current-gen consoles, except maybe the Wii. I think it's possible that HOTD4 could run on the Wii, but it would probably need to be scaled down somewhat. Just consider some of the bump-mapping and side-lighting stuff in Mario Galaxy. Also, I've heard that the PS3 is theoretically the easiest console to do Lindbergh ports to, since they both have nVidia video cards. If you want to know more about the Lindbergh, system16 is your friend. http://www.system16.com/hardware.php?id=731
The Wii's main weakness is , in my view, its lack of shaders. This is the most obvious difference even if they masterfully port the title.
All the lindbergh games are 720p, I doubt seriously if Wii can "move" a Lindbergh game, mainly for the lack of memory.
Wasn't the decision not to include the original HOTD in the recent Wii pack a result of Sega feeling this title would look too "rough" for modern players' tastes? Haven't they ever heard of visual upgrading, or maybe even porting the Model 2b version - a game that rivalled early Model 3 software graphically?! Actually, it's probably for the better they didn't include the first game as Sega would more than likely have just used the awful Saturn conversion for its source as opposed to a remake or bringing over superior past editions. Still, if there was a theoretical follow-up to the Wii collection, it would have to include at least the first HOTD and footage or even something playable from the cel-shaded prototype of HOTD3, just for the fans. Then again, Sega can't manage this with its more important series (like Sonic, for an obvious example) so why should we few remaining Sega enthusiasts have any hope for lesser franchises? Even the once mighty Sega Rally has cost its development team their jobs, which just shows how far the once giant company has slided as of late...
Shaders, RAM and processing power. But funnier ports have happened. I have to say though, HOTD4 is the worst in the series.
