Hey guys. So I brought a new laser to try and get my PC Engine CD-ROM2 up and running. The laser itself on the new unit looks like the old one, but it's connectors are very different from the ribbon cable the original uses:

What's the trick to installing this?

that looks like the laser for a "super cdrom2" unit. not an original cdrom2. so I dont think you will be able to use it... what is the problem with the old one? is it the middle gear? i know that's the problem with mine..

Damn really? It's not possible to rig it up for use with the CDROM2? The middle gear is fine (I have a replacement) but games won't load. I don't see the laser firing, so it looks like the laser is dead to me.

Sure you didn't need a sony kss-240? They use the single ribbon cable.

Note I know nothing about pcengine cd stuff lol!
