Hello, I made myself a spanking new VGA for my PSTwo using a LM1881 sync separator. Now I would like to set-up my console so I get VGA out correctly without swapping A/V cables or navigate blindly into menus to switch things.

I need your help then because I'm lost.

    Here's my set-up:
    -V12 USA PSTwo
    -Modbo 750 with firmware 1.93
-FMCB on mc1 that normally autoboots OPL(on mc1 too)

I tested my cable is correctly working by manually switching mode using GS Mode Selector 0.37. Everything shows up fine on VGA.

Now I would like to automate the process. I press power and after some time I get VGA out, without touching anything else.

I've seen on the configuration menu of my Modbo modchip that I can force VGA out but I haven't made it work. Is that a useful feature for me?

Is there a way to setup GS Mode Selector to automatically trigger a VGA mode and then boot OPL?

    Anyone got a clue?

Also is the compatibility of PS2 games good with VGA? Is there a better resolution than another one?

    Thank you!

I don't know about configuring your ModBo chip, since I have never used one before. But I can comment on the usage of GSM.

I think that GSM will automatically boot the last video mode you select, if you saved its configuration file to a memory card.

Game compatibility will obviously not be as good as when you run your games without tweaking because GSM will cause games to run under video modes that they were never designed for (By changing the video mode, things like the HSYNC and VSYNC rates may change as well). But so far it doesn't seem too bad yet.

And most importantly, just because mode X has a higher resolution than plain old NTSC and PAL, it doesn't mean that your games will automatically look better with mode X used. ;)
