No, that's not the store I went to. The one I went to was in Chinatown, and I forget the name, but it wasn't Video Games New York. It was a pretty small store. They had some cool items, but as I said, they were pretty overpriced. At least, they seemed overpriced at the time - this was about 9 years ago. I think the term "hipster" is overused to the point where people just use it to describe anything they don't like. It's never used in any way other than as a derogatory term. I don't know anyone who would call themselves a "hipster". I think a lot of people would say that if you own any kind of older electronics or anything that isn't mass produced anymore, or if you listen to any band or watch any movie that isn't mainstream, that means you're a hipster. Clearly that's stupid. So stop blaming everything on hipsters, lest you become labeled as a hipster yourself.
i dont think seattle has horrible weather at all, it honestly rains in New York City and Chicago more per year than Seattle. Pink Gorilla has pretty good prices, i've been a regular at their international district store since a couple months after they opened in 2005. Now they have 3 different stores! they removed the online store though, which sucks because I used to like to take a peek at their Famicom selection before driving over
Exactly. "Hipster" has for a while now been the new "emo", which was also used to describe anything someone didn't like.
This. The rain thing is mostly a myth. I've only been there maybe once or twice. When I worked in Bellevue, I worked down the street from that location, so I'd walk in and check out the selection every pay day. They're the ones that got me my long awaited copy of GunGriffon Allied Strike, so they're cool with me! Now, if only they could get me an NTSC copy of GunGriffon The Eurasian Conflict. Shogun.
I use Hipster as a term to describe people trying to be Artifically trendy. Which is what a hipster has always been. Anyways where were we?
I think hipster and emo are both completely separate groups, and a lot of people proudly call themselves hipsters or emo (I believe hipster is a noun, and emo is an adjective). At the moment talking about classic video game stores. Has anyone else been to The Exchange? They have a bunch of stores Chicago and eastwards (I think they're based in Pittsburgh). Their game selection isn't the best, but their prices are pretty darn good.
Ah yeah I was told about a really good retro game store in Winthrop MA but I forgot the name, they have a website and do internet sales as well as out of their retail location. I haven't been yet myself.
I been called a hipster for not being on facebook, because it seems the cool kids are leaving so its the new hip thing to do, even though I never had an account to being with I still use hipster to define the kind of average more-money-than-sense white guy or girl that does something for social recognition and peer pressure alone, not because s/he likes it or not but only if someone else in the social circle approves of it. The moment said thing is no longer hip it goes straight into the trash no matter its intrinsic value since for the hipster it never had any.
Yeah i know lol btw, if your curious this is how they're store looks: I've actually went there myself with my father & lil brother that one day ago LOVED it!
