Does anybody know how you use this program? I wanted to back up a copy of FFX (NTSC U/C version) just to see if it worked. What file do I patch? Is it the "SLUS" file? If so, can someone write a brief walkthrough of how it's done and how long it should take? Cheers.
Yeah the exe to patch is the SLUS file. It'll be someting like "SLUS_098.1" or something along those lines. They're different for every game so check it first and copy it into notepad or something. 1. Open your image (Note. The settings will default to the games settings is when you open it. e.g. FFX US should default to PS2, US, DVD. If it doesn't then somethings wrong with the image and it probably won't work) 2. Set the region to your TESTS region. Tick the master disc box. 3. Put your exe name in there. 4. Press patch (Note. no status bar or anything will come up. Just leave it and eventually a box will pop up saying "Patch succesfull"(or something like that). How long the pathcing takes depends on you machine and the size of the image. I've got a XP1800 and it took about 3 mins for a 4gig image. The patcher will spit out errors with some games about the exe name or length. This can be fixed by altering the system file in notepad.
Sorry to bring this up again peeps, but I still don't get how to do this! I'm trying to back-up my US HDD Utility disc (v1.01) which comes on a blue PS2 CD-ROM. When I put the disc in the CD drive of my PC it has a folder called FILES, a file called SCUS_973.95 (6kb) and a file called SYSTEM (1kb). Inside the folder called FILES it has 9 files: FILES.PAK (22,100kb) INSTALL.PAK (18,012kb) PADMAN.IRX (43kb) PS288.VOB (152kb) PS289.VOB (22kb) PS290.VOB (79,534kb) REPLACE.IMG (161kb) RS2D.BIN (163kb) SIO2MAN.IRX (7kb) I have tried opening the slus file etc in notepad but it's all encrypted. The only one I have found so far that is not encrypted is the SYSTEM file. It says: BOOT2 = cdrom0:\SCUS_973.95;1 VER = 1.10 VMODE = NTSC Do I need to do anything with the above SYSTEM file? When I open up Loser's Patch tool it asks you to select an image file. What file is this and do I copy this file from the CD to my PC hard drive first? In the above example what file should this be? Then I select PS2, Master Disc, CD, America. In the exe file name bit what do I put? I tried putting in "SCUS_973.95" and in the image file bit at the top of the program I selected the 6kb SCUS file. Is that right.....??? I hit patch and left my PC for an hour and it's still doing it which I think is wrong!!! Can this disc be patched or not - or is it me being a gibbon. A steb by step walkthrough for a dummy would be greatly appreciated. No disrespect to the Chief in the previous post but I still can't suss this out!! P.S - My PC is a P4 2.8GHz with 1.00Gb of RAM (Win XP) so it should be able to cope with this task - right?
I'VE DONE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *takes a small bow*
I made a .img file instead of a .iso file and the patcher worked. I then burnt the entire .img file to a disc and hey presto it worked! What's a .iso file?
.img = .iso, its mostly used to differentiate between DVD and CD type isos i guess, never understand the point myself as another cd app used to use .img and it was not an iso Dave :death
I've never had to use Loser's program. The one time I did, the CD didn't work. The few betas I've burned all work fine.
