When I have to wear a tie I usually tie it with a full Windsor knot. A friend in boarding school showed me how to do it, saying my schoolboy knot is not a real way to tie a tie OH: Sometimes I wear a bow tie. I think they look really neat.
I usually wear a common Windsor knot when I wear a tie, because I use my father's ties, and the double windsor is to broad for my thin neck... check out this video it's a LOOOOOOOOOOL http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdY63tX9tIg
I used to wear ties with the commom knot i had learnt when i was going to high school (no idea what its called) but now i try and wear a common windsor knot if i have time and can remember to use use a windsor knot.
After having to wear a tie (using a common windsor knot, BTW) between 2000-2003 in high school, unless there's an extremely good reason (like a job interview or something like that) there's no way I will wear one. For some reason I simply hate them.
Windsor knot every time! Double Windsor is too chunky. The kind of folks that do that are the ones that have the really long sideburns. HA!
I put the skinny end of the tie between my ass cheeks and let the rest fall gently out the top of my pants. And run, full speed, wherever I go.
Bizarre as the question is, I hate ties and avoid wearing them unless for funerals. I refuse to conform otherwise. At my high school (many moons ago) there was a 2p fine every time staff & teachers caught you without the school tie. Every semester I'd wander into the main office and hand over a bag of change to cover me for the next few months. Say "No!" to ties.
My tie is amazing. It zips snugly into place and always looks nice. Nobody has even noticed it's a zip up until I've told them either. =P I actually haven't had to wear it in a while though since I changed jobs.
