How can this thread exist without talking about non-spinoff Sangokushi and Nobunaga titles?! :banghead: The first few have only been remade literally every generation for the last 20 years...

Some would argue though that these games are like timeless board games, they only need the occasional facelift to bring them up to the current production standards. Because most customers only rock current-gen, it's also not a big deal for everyone to buy remakes of their old favorites, especially if they skipped a few iterations.

No...just no. Can you seriously be that ignorant to seriously suggest that Virtua Fighter changes entirely while nothing changes in Dynasty Warrior at all?

If you actually played Dynasty Warrior 2,3,4,5,6 you'd actually notice a difference. Not to mention that 1 was a fighting game. Spin off title Dynasty Tactics further deviates.

Each Dynasty Warrior in the core series either adds/subtracts character types and abilities (Hell in Dynasty Warrior 3 all the characters have unique strike attacks for their 6th move but in 6 they share certain traits). The level layout changes dramatically as does the method of retelling the story (in 3 it's a generic campaign for each character where as in 5 it's somewhat realistically closer). The later games introduced forts and the mission objectives change accordingly. The bodyguard and weapon growth systems also change between titles (4 had RPG style leveling for weapons where as other titles have you finding them).

And the latest Dynasty Warrior (6) has such dramatic changes to the core system (many consider for the worse but also interesting ones like in battle duels). That they're moving back towards the earlier titles with the PS2 and PSP ports. Don't make me start on the other games in the Warriors series.

The games don't change much frequently I'll grant you that but they change AT LEAST as much as a fighting game sequel and I didn't want to rant but I won't have such a blatant mistruth go unanswered.

Kind of alright...probably an okay alternative to Soul Edge so if you liked that (Specifically as the games changed noticeably with Soul Calibur) it's not bad (and with the large absence of Weapon based fighters in recent memory still somewhat interesting). Would really only be worth it if you're interested in PS1 era fighters with weapons.

As an interesting bit of trivia the characters in Destrega all have unlockable models based on the Dynasty Warrior characters.
