I did really bad but that's because I look at the keyboard when typing. I don't need to but I just do. Always have done. So I had to keep looking up at the screen. Plus it was American English. I'm typing this now much faster than the test because I don't have to read anything. Yakumo
I'm in the same boat Yak it's probably why my MSN messages can come out as gibberish - I look at the keyboard, type with my index fingers (though I have the deceny to use both left and right), don't bother to proof read then hit enter.
I used to be able to type 100+ WPM, Bought a laptop that had a different style of keyboard and it dropped before slowly getting better, moved back to real PC's and it dropped again, slowly regaining it. My issue is really I only type with 2 or 3 fingers not my entire hands.
I can only type with one finger, right index, and always have to look at the keyboard. 26 words :redface:
I did about 77 words per minute (about 527 characters a minute), however it was a pain as the words are just random, which is annoying as a proper sentence is a lot easier to type. When I did get a few words which did make a proper sentence I did type a lot quicker. I have managed 90 wpm on other touch typing software and in real life. Keyboards do make a real difference, I can type a lot faster on a clicky keyboard rather then the rubbish notebook keyboards out there. My typing speed drops to 40wpm on the apple inspired chiclet keyboards that seem to be standard on every sodding note and netbook now, they were rubbish 30 years ago and they are still rubbish today, damn you Steve Jobs, hope you are being forced to type an 100000 page essay on a ZX81 keyboard that has a 16k RAM pack and demons keep bumping into it and you have to print it out on the electrostatic ZX Printer.
for me the test is not a good indicator as my brain takes a long time to comprihent what its reading then converting it into typed text, from that it says 44, but if im doing straight from thought i know its about 70 words per minite, my typing speed is about 400% faster than my writting speed lol dyslexia is a bitch like that lol plus i typed this on my laptop so it wont be as quick as my desktop typing cos i dont like the keyboard as much on this pc
