I doubt they made the same "mistake" they had with the PSP, but it seems like you could do some stuff if you knew how to patch the PS3 OS via the hard drive (Granted, it is running off the same design the PSP had). Anywho, second question: Can it run demos that have been downloaded from the internet? Also, has the Japanese Devil May Cry 4 demo been leaked yet?
I don't really understand what you mean with demos downloaded by the internet. If you mean demos downloaded from the playstation store, then yes of course. If you mean anything else then no.
Eh, maybe I should explain it better. Say, for example, a PS3 demo for a store display comes out and is stored on the hard drive for that display PS3. Say someone dumps that demo online. Is it possible to download the demo and put it on the PS3 hard drive, and play it like normal like other demos?
I'm not sure if this is what you mean, but the PS3 can run Linux, so it should be able to compile and run PPC Linux emulators and homebrew games.
I understand your question, oh-great-segata-sanshiro-fan, but I don't own a PS3 to answer PS: the Ps3 is as flexible as a belly dancer on LSD.
So I don't have a ps3 yet, but I'm wondering why you would want to get copies of the store demos vs. just downloading them from the online store? Are the store demos different or something?
Well, i'm mostly referring to demos that are not released in sony's online download area, or are only available in stores (or demos that are in Japan only).
I wouldn't think you could without using an OS intermediary, mostly because when you put an actual disk in the disk drive its using drivers which translate the disk into all the fancy stuff on the screen, since you wouldn't be using and drivers or .dll equivalents, then the rip couldn't translate without help from an OS as mentioned.
