All right.. I'm in the mood for some RPG action, but I wanted to ask you guys what you thought of these titles. Are there any I should completely avoid? Which ones are the supreme? (I've heard Bahamut and Star Ocean are awesome.. just want a concensus. ) If you could, reply with a grade or number to each one you've played and add a comment for each if possible. Thanks a million! 7th Saga 2 Bahamut Lagoon DBZ: Legend of the Super Saiyan Dragon Quest 1 Dragon Quest 2 Dragon Quest 5 Dragon Quest 6 Dual Orb 2 Feda: Emblem of Justice Final Fantasy 5 Live a Live Magic Knight RayEarth Monstania Rudora no Hihou (Treasure of the Rudras) Secret of Mana 2 (Seiken Densetsu 3) Seiken Densetsu 3 (Secret of Mana 2) Star Ocean Tales of Phantasia The Violinist of Hameln Treasure of the Rudras (Rudora no Hihou) Villgust Wonder Project Ys 4: Mask of the Sun
Be careful if you use a pathed Bahamut Lagoon. There was a late version of the English patch that screwed over your game in the later chapters. It was updated and fixed, just be aware of it. It is well worth it if you like that kind of game. It feels a LOT like Shining Force 1 & 2 for comparison. I still need to get around to playing the translated Star Ocean...
I haven't played most of them (I don't like turn-based RPGs) but Seiken 2 is a great A-RPG. Violinist of Hamelin is not an RPG but an action platformer with puzzle elements. A very fun game.
7th Saga 2 is great. In japanese, but great. SO is awesome, except that you have to get the packs and everything to play it (which btw is not a problem at all). Seiken Densetsu 3 is great if you liked Secret of Mana, and very deep. Bahamut Lagoon is quite interesting, but for me Rudora no Hihou is one of the best around..and there's a partial patch for it too somewhere if i recall correctly.
Secret of Mana 2 (Seiken Densetsu 3) <- Does not exsist (it only exsist as the one below) Seiken Densetsu 3 (Secret of Mana 2) <- Freaking awsome. There is a english patch for it. Star Ocean <- Great RPG by Tri-Ace and a great looking game over all. Tales of Phantasia <-Great RPG by Namco. Actualy part of tales team left namco to form tri-ace.
Thanks for the replies guys! I'll be sure to get those sometime (in fifteen years). Since I don't want to creat another thread, I'll ask here: what SFC dodgeball games are any good? I've heard of some with robots and another with the Kunio crew. Anyone? Oh, and please keep bringing info about the RPGs, too. =)
