Gamespy/IGN is hooking up their hosted sites with free guest passes. I'm not sure if that means press or not, but it's still a free pass. Worth going? Where the fuck is it even? I've always lived so far away it didn't dawn on me until now that I would be able to go to it relatively painlessly.

Well it is hard as hell to get a hotel because most in LA is sold out. I fyou can find one it is 400 bucks or more a night for a rate hole and you have to rent a car too. So it is very very expensive this will be the first year i haven't gone. Cause i is broke. Last few times i stayed with a friend in hollywood which was a 45 min drive every morning. If you can Buddy up and take lots of cash... But the parties are great...

After being in Asia so long going to a game show in English just seems surreal. Most box art and game stores (at least on the island) make me nauseous. One day, 'more is less' will catch on. :) Well... $400 a night doesn't sound so good. I guess I will pass.

I live in LA and no it will not cost you 400.00 a night unless you say at a hotel up the street from the convention center.
You can stay at one of the hotels in ELSegundo next to LAX and take a shuttle to the convention center at a cost of maybe 70.00 per night.

I went to the last two and was not impressed, but this one should be great because of the Next Gen Systems to be showcased.

I thought E3 was open only to people that dealt in the gaming business, such as reporters, game makers, etc....or do you have to pay to go?

Your right it is for the trade and industry but it's as simple as having a business card from any electronic or game store to get in, so you just need a friend who works in one of the two and what we do is get one pass for the 3 days and take turns going in. Once you have the pass you just sign in and you can use your own name because they do not ID you with the pass.

It kinda makes the whole idea of it being closed to the public silly because I would say at least 40% or more at the event are not even in the industry.

Now there are some events in the show that you can not get into without a press pass like the Sony news conference and some of the cool free stuff requires a press pass.

I think the last one we went to cost about 34.00 USD for the three days.

Like i said i stayed in Hollywood and most everything was sold out i had to room one night with a My teamxbox people and another night with some M$ people and then the rest of the week with friends we just met. So maybe hotels aren't that hard to find... But the parties.

Too many annoying white people in LA. I'll stay here where it's nice and ethnically confusing.
