    Good morning all.
Anyone who lives in or has ever been to the UK will know London has a large underground train network (London Underground)
I am a contract worker on the underground, I install signal cabling, and this morning my team caused havoc. Heres the scoop:

There were ten of us installing cable, and two of us lifted an airline (steel tube about 6" in diameter) to place cable under it.

    BOOM

The airline split, and did a mexican wave up through the tunnel, ripping the massive brackets off the wall as it went. In total, 100 metres of airline had separated from the wall and was now lying on the tracks. Oops.

After lots and lots of paperwork, we found out that the 'Victoria Line' will not be operating today, as it will take a day (and about £50,000 to repair).

Then we found out that it ripped lots of original signal cable out, for the 'Circle line, district line, metropolitan line, and northern lines'

Thats a LOT of stations, and many millions of pounds of work. And I got paid 5 hours overtime to do the report :)

So anyone stuck in it today..... My bad, sorry

    Andy

Most of it has been sorted now, but it was on the site this morning.

Anyway, the 5 year contract was dropped, and 35 people (including myself) are jobless.

    shit.

Wow. Was this reported in your local news? That is funny, as long as no one got hurt.

nothing was said on the news, and on the travel info site, they put it down to a 'late engineering finish' but they cant exactly put 'an old airline ruptured and destroyed the other cabling' can they? hehe

Anyways my agency seems to have found me some other work so I should be ok

Classic as a fellow worker of the contract commuity a salute you!

I mangaged to cause approx 1000 pounds of damage to a certain big plane by simply snapping an earth stud.
