What were all wondering right now is, Assembler, how goes the rebuild of the assemblergames museum, surely with the legal out of your way, you can continue. We've read of your trials and tribulations of the rebuild, and im sure we'd all like an update? how goes Assembler? And, ummm, when can we exppect the new and improved museum? Ryan
Well right now I'm finishing up on learning how to use plesk and the suite of macromedia products. I've started learning about making my own css style. Given the board is made with spurious software, I'dhave to come up with a few hundred for that, and then port it as there's a newer version coming out. I took about 15 hours to sort through the 4 terabytes of files and pictures I have here, and organized them by company, generation and either dev/retail. If anyone who knows vbulleting can help, it would speed things along for sure. Right now I am experimenting with backups of the board and loading it to a new board on a test server, without much success.
never was fond of them.....gimme html anyday now thats surprising actually.... Holy Goddammed Mother F&^%$)&^ *&^&*((^$@#^(_)$# &&^%$#&(0%er.... so this will ready by next tuesday?..lol well the best of luck to you assembler, although i think you may have made the wait even more unbearable and thanks for the update there you have it folks, straight from the horses mouth..... Ryan
Err, wouldn't admit that if I were you! If that were found out, you'd be pulled immediately! Get a license right away!! It will be a GREAT help to you as you'll have access to the forums and can ask questions there. Also, vBAdvanced is a good CMPS, and free. vBA Gallery is a good gallery system, it is $60. I'm sorting out a site for someone with a combination of the three.
CSS is pretty easy. I'll give you the Japanese Gaming style sheet if you want and you can use it as a template. It's uses quite a few CSS tricks in it. Having the PHP code helps as well, but that might be overkill. Unless you're making a gigantic Flash file, I'd say stay away from Macromedia's stuff. PHP + MySQL is a beautiful thing. Makes updates a snap as well.
Well given I let myself get as outdated as a caveman with newer web tools, I had a lot of learning to do.
CSS is very easy indeed, and I'd say no to Flash also!! The board is PHP, go with that. You can even use a pre-built CMPS that integrates/is built on vBulletin - even better!!!
lol......well im sure ill understand what your talking bout soon enough....i just started a internet class, and to be honest ill stick to html...but if you need a hand, ...gimme a call..... good luck assembler, and to all those helping him
Assembler, I remember a while back, when you announced that you were rebuilding the site, you said you were looking for some contributors. Are you still looking for contributors?
My offer still stands Assembler (the pm i sent you and email) .. I'd love to help any way I can with this site as although I have only been here a short while, its a fantastic place with a great userbase of helpful, smart and generally nice people... plus the subject matter is so interesting and somewhat unique within the larger spectrum of the interweb and I would love to be a part of that ^_^ I realise you may not have like the conditions I set in the pm/email , but I'm more than willing to talk bout it and help in anyway I can ^_^ Best of luck with the site
