I think the first ever console that actually glued me to the world of console's was a 1989 GameBoy (i think). My older American cousin had brought it with him on holiday to Greece, where i drooled over Tetris, some Simpsons game and Super Mario Land. EDIT: I drooled over the simpsons game in 1991, later than the other two actually!
My very first gaming experience was on a Commodore Plus 4 (basically a smaller sexier looking Commodore 16 with a few extras). My first console though was a Sega Master System back in 1987. That got sold the following year for a Mega Drive though. So I guess I can say I've been console gaming for 20 years now and I doubt I'll stop  Yakumo
started with gaming with about 3 years old on a pong (clone) like console. that is now 29 years ago. then with 5 i got really interessed in all those arcade cabs and cocktail table which where all around everywere. a year or two later or so, the G&W fever started. that was a great time back then:icon_bigg
I think I was around 5 or something when my brother got a NES. This was my first afaik gaming experience. My first own console would be a game boy that I had collected money for month so I could buy.. and when I got it I couldn't afford any games for it (if handheld doesn't count as console, my first console was a PSX)
First console was Amiga CD32 in 2002, also bought an Dreamcast that year. I used to be playing games only on computer before that and totally ignoring console stuff First computer was Commodore 64 that my parents bought in 1986.
Ditto, I don't feel so old now. Thanks Oldengineer, Assembler and Frakattack. Although I do remember being lifted up by my dad to play Space Invaders when I was 2 or 3 or something... and I desperately wanted a Atari VCS when I was 4.
Not a console but my first gaming experiences were probably in 1987 on my dad's Commodore 64 - I remember playing Gyrius, Ghost Busters, Winter/Summer Olympics, Pitfall, Q-bert - I must have been like 4 years old. First console experience was '88 - '89 my parents bought the family a NES - Super Mario Bros. and Duckhunt, Bible Adventures, Galactic Crusader, TMNT...my mom liked to gamble so we bought Caesar's Palace lol
I started about 1992, when my cousin got a NES with Super Mario Bros 3, then at '93 my aunt brought me a Famicom from Japan with SMB1, Soccer and Ice Climber. Some months later I got a Gameboy with Super Mario Land and Tetris. I didn't get anything for some time (got my 1st computer in '95) until '00 when I got my PSOne.
Atari 2600.. When my older brother intro-ed it to me. That was in early 1990..my parents got it for him i think, I was 5 yrs old at that time.
Same here. I really could not stop playing SML and would sometimes sit and play it through three times in a row. The Simpsons game must have been Bart Simpson's Escape from Camp Deadly. Unforgettable voice samples like "Ay caramba!" and "killing" enemies with hamburgers and apples... Then came a SNES and it was me vs. my best friend in Street Fighter II all the time.
haha, are you still best friends today? i remember me and my best friend always getting mad at each other when we'd play Tekken...
I started playing console games 15 years ago, when i was 3. The first console i played (is it considered a console?) was a Commodore 64, then later that same year my parents got me a NES with Megaman 3 (awesome game, to me is still one of the best games ever).
first TV game that I remember is the old BW ping pong game my old man brought to home one day when I was like 6-7 years old - man it seems like life time ago... if we are talking about the modern game console it'd be Sega Saturn right after it was released in Japan...
