Hey, how long is a safe amount of time to wait till filing a claim with ebay/paypal over not receiving an auction item? I'm wondering since I think there is a deadline before it's too late. To give some info. On the 20th of july I won an auction for a Sys246 arcade PCB. I paid for the item on the 21st (via paypal funds) and the seller said it should go out the following day (22nd). Well today (thursday) marks 3 weeks since it should have shipped (going from USA to Canada) and nothing has showed up. I emailed the seller last friday though ebay then again on monday directly but I have not gotten any responce (all I asked was to confirm what day it was shipped out on). While it's reasonable for something to take 3 weeks to get to canada (specially since it's a PCB), everything else i've bought off ebay recently has showed up (even some games sent from japan last week). Also I don't like that the seller hasn't contacted me back yet. http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160456048188 I know i'm being somewhat ancy on this but I bought the item in hopes to repair and use in my arcade but a week later I got a solid deal on a working Sys246 from a local seller, plus I have a 256 that will be coming from japan in a month. So I want to try fixing this thing and selling it off to recoup some of my money from it back. Plus it doesn't hurt having a copy of tekken 4 to keep. It's also not like shipping was really cheap as it cost me $48. :crying::crying:
Yeah if you paid that much for shipping and didn't get a tracking number that's definitely a warning sign.
Their might be but it was not something offered. Any parcel larger then a small package (small box that holds no bigger then 2-3 games) sent internationally from canada has a DC/tracking number on it by default. I'd assume USPS has got to be the same by now. Personally I think it's stupid to send out anything of value > $50 with out tracking. I'm kind of being generous but I was thinking to file on Friday if nothing shows up by noon (Can post drops by around 11/11:30). I just wanted to see if maybe that was being too soon or if I was being a dick.
It's worth noting that this thing isn't light. It's pretty heavy but I think $48 was a bit too much (maybe more $35-$40).
I'd file. I mean, how much trouble is it to say "Hey dude. I shipped on XXX". Instead he's just ducking you.
I don't think he is purposely duck me as he sells quite a few things on ebay and has a high rating count. But again, if you're going to offering a service/selling something you should respond to questions because it is part of the process/job. =/ I guess I'm just going to wait out a few more hours for the mail and if not just file later this afternoon.
Oh for **** sakes. He responded. The thing was shipped YESTERDAY. Even worse he tells me it's missing the disc and it will be thrown in the mail today. At least on the bright side, The package is going via UPS and I now have a tracking number and can see the thing will arrive on monday. I also can see the package has notes for broker clearance which means CUSTOMs fees. **** me... -edit- I don't mind paying customs fees on stuff (it on an $80 should be reasonable) but the fact it's going through UPS instantly means it's going to tack on an extra $20 brokerage fee (Canada post brokers fee is around $5).
I feel for you. We once had a VHS delivered from a charity in the USA and had to pay a customs fee for it (an absolute piss take). The customs fee was about £5, and because they'd sent it through UPS they'd added an extra £15 on so it was £20, I cannot STAND UPS and their outragous prices, but that aside they do get things delivered.
At least you started a big enough fire to make him actually ship you something. Hopefully not an empty box.
Again, I don't think he was out to scam me. I just think he is a bad seller is all. I just hope on the box the value is not overly marked. If I get stuck with an insane custom's bill I'm just going to reject it and demand a refund. I'm also tempted to see if I can ask/demand a partial refund on the shipping cost due to his lateness (like at least 1/4 of it). :banghead: -edit- I just hope in the end of all this I can salvage/fix this Sys246 board and it not be a waste of my time/money.
Small update, I might be in luck and will have the package tomorrow (with a missing T4 disc =/). It was temp delayed for customs broker but that's now cleared and it already landed in Ontario today and passed through customs. So there is a good chance it will be dropped off tomorrow as it no longer list an estimated delivery date for Monday. I'll make sure to post what the wallet rape charges on customs fee will be tomorrow.
I really don't get how UPS gets away with this crap. I really don't (since it's their own ****ing brokerage). Huzza, my package showed up with a $38.77 fee. $5.38 of that is import tax. The rest is a $29.55 brokerage fee + a 3.84 tax for that fee on something with a declared value of $41.39. ****! I'm never accepting UPS packages again. On the bright side, The stuff I ordered was extremely well packaged. The thing was heavily encased in bubble wrap sitting on a ****-ton of packing peanuts. Will try booting up the kit in a bit (nothing seems broken on the PCB). Also the tekken 4 SD is revC which is kind of cool. While I wait for the disc I can just burn off a cd dump from mame image. -edit- It's a TEF2C which isn't listed in Guru's chart (he only has A for the TEF2 types, There is also TEF1(a,c,d) & TEF3(a,c)).
Wow. The actual good news just keeps comming. The kit fully works. Since I'm missing the Tekken 4 CD I couldn't boot that to see if it works (will do on monday when I can get a burn of the iso made) but the Sys246 PCB & I/O boards fully worked fine when booting up Gundam Seed Zaft. \(^.^)/ Now I can sell off this damn thing quickly to recoup what I can.
