I've put countless hours into the game, just with mods alone. I never really beat the main quest all the way through, but I had more fun just playing with all the thousands of mods the game has.

I DID play through the game twice (once on the Xbox version and another on the PC version), but as far as quests went, about all I did was kill Dagoth Ur. One of these days I'll complete the plot.

First, here is a picture of my character. I have full Daedric (Two sets), one is from that very old Wizard guy named Divayth, whom I killed within an hour of starting the game. Didn't use console commands, either, though Alchemy is cheap as hell. The rest is from some demo room that had every armor in the game in it. I used console commands to get there. Oh, and I got the hood / cape from a Vampire from a mod. I like the way it looks.

After doing pretty much everything there was to do in the game (aside from the plot) I downloaded about 60 or so mods. And used all sorts of console commands.

I wanted to go for the "Sauron" look, so I made my guy really tall with the setscale command.

Before: (I swear to God I am not a Wood Elf, either)

    After:

My 50 foot tall Skeleton companion. Had to put him down because he kept getting stuck in the atmosphere.

You might have noticed the Death Star moon.

Even though some like the bleak, brown Atmosphere, I grew tired of it. After a while, I downloaded tons of creature adding mods, as well as Atmosphere changing ones.

I got a mod for my own ridable Dragon (not my character in the pic)

Added several Dragon specie to Vvardfenfell

This area looks a little too "Colorful" but not all the areas are like this. I just got tired of black and brown giant mushroom infested wastelands.

As for console commands, I just loved screwing around mainly. I downloaded the mod that gets rid of the fog, used a scroll of Icarian flight, then used levitate while in mid-air, to see the whole island. Its amazing how close it looks to the world map, imo.

Another thing I really love in Morrowind is using the Vivec Arena for ridiculous matches. I perma summoned a Bear, stat buffed it beyond belief, gave it really high health, defense, attack, etc, and tried to see if it could kill 250 Corprus Stalkers. It didn't but it was a hell of a fight. The aftermath:

And I thought everyone would LOVE this image. :icon_bigg

Anyways, after beating the game, I did a quick MSpaint. The end "Reward" sucks. Awfully.

Also, I'm not trying to whore out my Video or anything, but this was one of my many Vivec fights. FRAPs caused the FPS to drag to unbearable levels, as this normally wouldn't be so very, very slow.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-qefqb0gLE

The 50 Golden Saints are basically whacking away at a mannequin in armor, who they think is any enemy, because I punched it.:icon_bigg I then blow them all up with a custom spell.

I'm willing to bet everyone else just played through the game normally, but I love using as a medieval sandbox type of game.

I love the 50-foot tall skeleton.

One of the reasons I didn't like Morrowind so much was because of the weird atmosphere. A lot of people loved the game for it, but it just didn't feel the same.

Oddly enough, this is making me want to play Oblivion. Let's see if it crashes my computer again (I'm betting yes...).

Also, for some reason your graphics look horrible. You don't even have texture filtering on. What graphics card are you running?

Yeah dude, does your computer suckz? Those look gross.

I wasted 20$ on this game for Xbox. I just do not like these kind of games/RPG's. It was fun to goof around in it though.

I put about 80hours into this game, which is a lot! Although the only game I put over 120hours was in Dragon Warrior 7 for PSX. Anyway. Watching this makes me want to play it all over again, with different character class, etc. I did 'cheat' a little bit last time I played and beaten it. Well I only cheated one time, but afterwards I didn't because you get to very high levels that you are pretty much invincible.

Oblivion is alright. Still getting used to it.

I'd suggest getting texture packs for morrowind, they help make the game feel more 'up to date'.

That is a nice looking character btw. Mine had nothing but glass armor. It was pretty sweet.

Only thing I modified in the game was this shack in Seyda Neen, where you kill this murderer. I took over his house and just used it to dump my things. I changed to nothing but a room full of chests, filled with lots of items. I also modified the mudcrab and scamp that have unlimited amounts of money. Made them have over 1,000,000 in gold so that I can sell my useless crap, which was a lot.

The books in the game are actually pretty good. A lot of workmanship behind the writing. Made the world feel very authentic.

I really wanted to love morrowind, I really did. However, the combat is just too...unbalanced. It just felt weird trying to hit your enemy, and it misses the majority of the time. Thats part of the reason I loved Oblivion and put a good 80 hours in that game (and I still play from time to time). I really want to give Morrowind another chance one of these days, since I did the same with Metroid Prime (Hated it when it first came out, but loved it when I replayed it years later).

With MGE on, I had to lower the Texture filter. It runs a lot worse with MGE on, as NO FOG AT ALL is on the entire WORLD, which is like 3 square Kilometers, iirc.

I get a steady FPS with that texture filter off. Maybe one day I'll have a PC that can run MGE at maximum everything, but not now.

EDIT: Oh, and Taemos, Morrowind is run solely on the CPU, if I remember right. MGE takes advantage of the Video card.

Without MGE, Morrowind runs FINE, but I'm getting tired of the fog distance and not seeing where I'm going well.

I felt this way too. I've really enjoyed Oblivion and Shivering Isles, but I just can't play Morrowind because of its atmosphere. I was afraid when I saw the first Shivering Isles screenshots as I thought the brown giant mushrooms were returning.

    I found Morrowind overwhelming.

I'm sure I'll be even more overwhemed if I got Oblivion.

Runs entirely on the CPU? What?

What computer/Video card do you have? That will probably explain why it looks gross.

Your CPU has nothing to do with texture filtering ;). I was just wondering why it looked like pixellated crap but that makes sense if you are using MGE. You know there is a screenshot function, though, right?

Speaking as a guy who's played a lot of RPGs, Oblivion is much more accessible than Morrowind. Oblivion was built from the ground up to be experienced on a console, whereas Morrowind was really intended to be enjoyed with a mouse and keyboard. While there's a lot to do in Oblivion, it's less frustrating to figure out what the next step is. If it helps, think of Oblivion as a sort of medieval Grand Theft Auto and you'll be in the right mindset.

I'm continuing to enjoy Morrowind on a modified Xbox, which allows me to apply some of the PC mod files. Most of the mods aren't compatible at all, but the ones that are make the game more entertaining.

I put a billion hours into Morrowind and then something happened that permanently killed my Xbox HDD. I was really really pissed for weeks.

I will buy Oblivion eventually, but I'll play it on PC and I'll wait to do that until I have PC that it will really run flawlessly on.

I love these sorts of games, I'll take one of these over an MMORPG any day of the week.

After losing a 250 hour game of Oblivion to a glitch (which somehow also cross-corrupted my backup saves) my love for this series has soured a bit.

What does MGE stand for? Either way, when I had my older system: a 2500XP Barton AMD, 1gig RAM, 9600Pro - the game ran fine on maximum settings. It was when I used the texture packs on the game where it slowed down.a

Now that I have upgraded I get about 70FPS on my new system and recently new 8600GTS. I can also enjoy Oblivion, and STALKER at high settings and not run less than 30FPS.

Anyone know if the Ultima IV and Ultima underworld remake Morrowind mod is completed?

Those photos are class. Loved Morrowind (had it on Xbox) and bought it for PC for a time when I would have a decent PC that would run it and so I could mod it. Now I do I've moved on to Oblivion and consequently have not played pc Morrowind much.
For me Morrowind was a better game because it left more the imagination and so became more involving - Oblivion, while a good game, felt less involving.

Oblivion is a buggy pile of shitty code. It ran fine on my old computer ("fine" meaning slow but stable). I built a new one basically to play Oblivion and FEAR, and Oblivion freezes my computer every time I exit the game, not to mention corrupting my saved games a number of times. Bethesda has never been known for their technical skill (look at Daggerfall).

Morrowind is a very CPU intensive game. Without the MGE mod enabled, the game runs at the "normal" speed, even when tons of shit is happening all at once. With distant land enabled with MGE, the FPS rate suffers. My Video card can do screens like this under normal circumstances:

However, the Video card can be old as hell and still look good with NORMAL Morrowind.

MGE allows an option to DISABLE texture filtering. I set it to maximum performance, rather than setting it to look as good as it could possibly look. MGE is useless indoors in the game, but once you go outside and you can see Solstheim from Red Mountain, without texture filtering off, the FPS rate is like 10, rather than 25 or whatever. Not sure what the optimal FPS rate is for Morrowind, but there was NO slowdown with it when I didn't have MGE. I like being able to see where I am going, too. Fog ruins the game, and makes it really really hard to see where you are going.

I don't know about you guys but for me: FPS rate > Graphics. If anything, my CPU sucks worse than my graphics card does.

My video card isn't high-end, but it definitely isn't low-end, either. For comparison, here's a few screens I took in Dawn of War. It might not look like an Xbox 360 or PS3 game, but I think it looks good for MY pc.

Anyways, I'm more than willing to bet MGE WILL destroy FPS in even a high end gaming PC, if you go all the way with it. That means showing all objects throughout the whole world, no loading screens throughout the whole world (as in, the whole world is one cell), and a lot of other crap.

Its a very very intensive mod.

My CPU is absolute shit. Its a 2.5 ghz Celeron or something.

As for my video card, its an Nvidia Geforce FX 5500.

My video card before that was an on-board one, and this PC was a birthday present a few years back.

Since then, I configured my paging file to a large number and bought a gig of ram for my PC. Its good for most things except playing recent games pretty much. Recent, as in, came out in the last 2 or so years.
