how many regions exist for 360 for games?

    Is it just "USA", "Europe" and "Japan"? Are Austraian games the same region as European games?

    European and Australia games both are PAL and so can usually be interchanged.

    Yes. Australia is grouped with Europe. The three regions are NTSC-J, NTSC-U/C, PAL. DVDs might not work though, since Australia is region 4.
