How they 'brought back' Marlon Brando for 'Superman Returns' http://raincloud.warnerbros.com/wbmovies/supermanreturns/jor_el/jor_el_large.mov VERY cool CGI work there. Some might argue that it is wrong to bring back dead actors, but in this case, he is merly 'reprising' a role from an earlier movie in the same series, and I think it adds to the nastalgia. Also, maybe the porn industry wil pick up on the tech and finally give me that Jessica Alba on Angelina Jolie video ;-)
That is pretty amazing. I remeber seeing a tales from the crypt episode where they did this with Humphrey Bogart.
The scenes filmed with Marlon Brando were intended for Richard Donner's original version of Superman II, but following a dispute with the producers he was fired and replaced by Dick Lester, who changed many plot elements. In addition to this crime, Lester also reshot many sequences (to prevent Donner from getting a director's credit) and caused a further rift that saw many of the leading cast members - including Gene Hackman and Marlon Brando - refusing to come back. With the use of "doubles" for Hackman and removal of references to Brando's character, the cut of Superman II as we know it today remains a poor substitute for what could have been. Despite never getting an official release, sections from the Donner treatment were added to various international television screenings, providing dedicated fans with the necessary material to create a more faithful vision. While his involvement is minimal, it's believed that a brand new version of the film is being prepared with even more of Donner's footage (including the newly inserted Brando scenes) as part of an upcoming Superman boxed set. In a recent interview, Donner suggested that Michael Thau will be responsible for this new version, which promises to be just as good - if not better - than his previous reworking of the first movie. However, it's unlikely that most people will even care when the real star of this rumoured collection is the home debut of a certain Superman Returns... P.S. If this really is true and the footage of Brando shot for Superman II is also featured in "Returns" then how will this affect the appearance of both movies in the same package? Hopefully a short documentary will provide answers for the less-educated when it comes to the history of this complicated series!
I feel the need to point out that this video is really interesting. Its amazing what they can do with fancypants new technology. That said, I don't see why they bothered. Though this is a continuation of the old series, all of the actors are new this time around. A new Jor-El would have been just fine.
I think it's a nice tribute to brando. Plus, they don't have to pay for his likeness. It's basically a free large name actor, they own the rights to the footage.
interesting video, but the superman never interested me at all. In fact, i think its one of the worst super hero ever created, even if i understand the fuzz.
Sorry guys, but i cant understand why this could be good. There`s nothing duller than an hero without flaws.
you are absolutly right. But i still think superman is just a badly aranged super hero. There`s bandits pointing their guns toward superman? No prob, super man is motherf*cking bulletproof . ..-NOW!
I was watching the Superman cartoon show a few days back and saw him get blasted away by a freakin' MACHINE gun and blown back several yards and blown up and acted like it really hurt. The movies and shows are really inconsistent to the comics. And sometimes the comics are really inconsistent too. So is the way of all Superhero comics, I guess.
