Martin, You gone shopping yet for a used ps2?
I have to imagine since sales are so low atm that stores might try to entice you to buy some stuff.

I bought a 360 instead, as every single PS2 I saw at the weekend cost more money! I found a better shop though, in Shinjuku, so I will get one from there at some point. Collecting some 360 exclusives at the moment though :)

There was no sign of low sales this weekend, believe me! Tokyo is business as usual...

Huh? Does that mean that 360s are super cheap or that PS2s are strangely expensive? PS2s are ~£25 with hookups in all the game shops/cash converters here, 360s start at around £60.

Make sure to get Virtual On. =) (both XBLA version and fource at retail).

Not shocked 360 is cheaper then a PS2.

Oh also no need for a game hunt for me, play-asia 20% off sale will hold me over. =D

I also recommend Virtual On. I only have the DC port but what a port it is. Options for the original DC graphics which still look shit hot or all new real HD 360 graphics. A fantastic port. Don't judge shit ports such as Crazy Taxi or Sonic Adventure to all DC to 360 ports  Now, if only they'd port Shenmue 2 with true HD graphics, not just the turd XBOX version. I'd rather have the DC original over that.

How much should I expect to pay for a 360 (and a PS2 as well). If they're cheap enough I'll pick one up when I move to Japan come october.

**** it seems irem is killing the entire Disaster Report series for good (atm). So besides not releasing 4, they have discontinued all the previous games and will no longer offer reprints and I think they even took the PSP game off PSN. =(

    So GaijinPunch,
When are you going back to tokyo?

My 360 20GB cost me (J\4300. Cheapest PS2 I can find, that is guaranteed to work, costs \9000 (but see below).

Coolio! So I should get "Fource" huh? I tried Virtual On on the Dreamcast many years ago but really sucked at it. Maybe I'll get Force and give it a bash.

Please could you let me know what other 360 games are worth getting over here? JRPG would be lost on me as my Japanese is OK for day-to-day, but role playing games are going to be beyond my comprehension.

    I know :(

Maybe this discussion could be moved elsewhere by a mod?

    Cheapest 360 I found was \4300, and I couldn't find one PS2 for under \9000 until I'd bought my 360 and then I found a PS2 in Sofmap for \6000ish.(B

Hmm, well most of my JPN exclusives are shooters such as Cave titles and Konami's Otomedius G and the soon to arrive Otomedius X. I do own Ninety Nine Nights II which I do like although it got poor reviews. Most of the other games I own can be bought anywhere. What I'll do is take a photo of the titles I have when I get home.

For XBOX Live titles there are quite a few great titles. Again, shooters such as Ray Storm HD, Cave's Guwange but also the comical Comic Jumper, the excellent Virtual On and so on. Again, I'll let you know when I get home.

Xbox version is very nice IMO.

All it needs is High Def and an option for the purists to use the Japanese language track(Like people speaking Japanese in China makes sense either)

    Please do!

I'm playing a lot of Do-Donpachi 1.5 Dai Fukkatsu at the moment (it's the only game I own in disc format!); might get the black label disk rather than DLC :)

Recommendations would be great as I only played a few games back in the UK really...

Here you go. I've owned more games over the year but I sell many which I don't really like.

    Thanks!

Nice collection of games there; seems like a lot to get my teeth into. I bought a PS3 on arrival here; Wipeout HD and bluray are nice and I have a few other games like Pacman.

I might get the Black Label DonPachi 1.5 Daifukkatsu sometime. I've not played Resident Evil since Code Veronica... is Biohazard 5 any good?

EDIT: No ikaruga? I have Trigger Heart on both DC and XBL. I might get VIrtual On on disc, just because :)

Bio Hazard 5 is good but I would say Bio Hazard 4 was a better game. As for Ikaruga, I don't like it that much or RSG come to mention it. Treasure's shooters are too smart for their own good IMO.

If you'd like to buy a few games cheap I'm selling Dead Space 2 for 3000 yen, Fallout 3 for 2500yen and Transformer - War for Cybertron for 2500 yen Shipping for 1 games to Tokyo should only be about 180 yen. All my games are mint as if they were brand new so no worries on actual quality

Let me knwo if you are interested.

Really? Nice! Code Veronica was good at the time but it's a bit stiff these days however if they change the controls to that of Bio Hazard 4 I'd be very happy. Bio Hazard 4 remake is a must buy. I loved that game.

OK, so BH4 is good... neat. Will check it out. Will also buy more shooters and Virtual On! Force... what's in the boxset of it? Anything worth having?

Fair point. I have it on Dreamcast but that's more for collectability and graphical prowess.

I don't know much about those games so I will have a read and let you know. I've bought from you before, and know the quality

RE4 is an outstanding game. I'll definitely be picking up the remake. Funnily enough I was playing it again a week or two back and wondering why they'd hadn't re-released it as a HD pack yet.

Prices for PS2s seem to be all over the place. My local Book-Off has unboxed consoles for about 6000 yen, but a mighty 12000 yen for a boxed one, even if the box it tatty.

360s have actually increased in price from what I can tell. I passed up on a boxed Arcade 360 console last November for a mere 5500 yen... went back there the next week to buy it and it was gone. Now they tend to go for a minimum of 9000 yen for original generation preowned white Core units, Gutted.

I love how so many stores sell Orange Spice Gamecubes for 1550 yen. They are regarded as rare in the UK, you'd be able to make a mint buying them here and selling them back in the UK...
