For example, some of the uncomplete areas in the Resident Evil 2 demo that was accessable via gameshark. Since many of the demos released to the public are more or less a beta complied for public use, there are bound to be a few areas left over, or uncompleted.

The non-interactive demo for Monkey Island 2 contained like an entire beta version of the game, if you knew how to dig around.

How do you access the levels for example if it was a ps2 demo would you be able to access it on a test ps2 or ps2 dev?

mostly with a gameshark or other devices that let you hack a game in some way.

I want to know how much of the gun version of P.N.0 is still in the retail version, and see if it's possible to get into it.

The fact that Perfect Dark had a whole bunch of stuff from Goldeneye, and I think some bits of code that referred to the face mapping feature that was supposed to be in the final version. BTW, theres a program that you can use to face map the enemies of Goldeneye with your custom pic. All you need is a gameshark pro hooked up directly to the PC, plus the software.

You mean the newer games, or the old Monkey Island 2?
    Any link? :)

It's not console related, but there was plenty of stuff left over in the Daggerfall Interactive Preview's executable. It's mainly just text snippets only accessable with a hex editor, but it's interesting nonetheless. Unused graphics also remain on the final release's CD.

I have a timed demo of Tomb Raider(s) for the Japanese saturn released by Victor. The intro is stil the same as the PAL game plus seems to have the whole game on the disc even though you can only play for 5 minutes.

Well, then you should be able to hack an AR code that keeps resetting the timer ;-)

Yes that's true but I don't have the stuff to connect the AR to my PC :(

I know this doesn't really count as a demo, but the Sonic World area of Sonic Jam contains some unused floor textures if you can manage to find a point where it is possible to make the camera see through the level's boundaries. What's more, by taking advantage of a small hole in the invisible collision detection walls you can break out of the playable section and either locate this leftover part or run as far into the distance as you like! After a while, the floor even loops, though sadly the actual stage and collision detection is not repeated. This whole phenomenon only adds to the myth that Sonic Team had more of Sonic World complete than is available in this compilation, which isn't exactly pure speculation as it's already been confirmed that this small section was created as a test to see how Sonic would function in a three-dimensional environment. Therefore, you could theoretically say World is the precursor to what became Sonic Adventure, though rumours of a second snow-themed level are still just that for now...

P.S. The recent discovery of many backgrounds from later in the "1.5" version of Biohazard 2 is one of the best finds - in my opinion - since the leaking of that Sonic 2 prototype a few years back, and hopefully now the Resident Evil community will finally learn a lot more about how this game would have originally played...

Thats exactly the stuff Im looking into with your pc-comm card when the trade is made. :)

BTW Yakumo you have the Tomb raider silver, right? Have you tried the elusive level select code that was supposed to work in the early versions?

There's a certain bug in a Timesplitters 2 demo which allows you to see the entire level through the air. It's like an invisible staircase floating in the air. Pretty cool when I first found out, since you get to see some parts of the level you're not supposed to see. ;p

One of the reasons I brought this up is because of the MGS3 demo that was released. Instead of making a completely new, and more recent demo, they simply used the E3 demo. This means that there is a rather large possibility that a area near the end of the demo can be entered using a AR code (Along the lines of a walk through walls code), and we can see how much of MGS3 was complete at the time of E3.

I never knew there was one. I'll check game Faqs for it. I have a PAL silver, Japanese orginal called Tomb Raiders and a Japanese demo disc that's still in English but with some different sections and timed :( You can't actually see the timer so at first I though the game would reset once you reached a point in the level but it doesn't. It just resets after 5 minutes.

Where is that small hole? any pics/info?

I find all that info about Sonic's proto very fascinating, there're so much stuff left on the games.
Funny is I played that Sonic 2 proto before the game release back in '92. That proto could be found everywhere here in Brazil...
