People always treat routers as slave-boxes. It has been a while that I wonder what it packs inside, but since i don't want to open it, I d like to ask some of you educated folks: how powerful is an average router? to which games' console would you compare its CPU power ? (obviously graphics aren't an issue with a router)
I dunno, my Linksys router apparently runs on one of these: http://www.broadcom.com/products/Wi...ss-LAN-Solutions/BCM94712#tab=productinfo-tab Which is a 200MHz "system-on-a-chip", specialized to do a lot of networking tasks. It's apparently general-purpose enough to run Linux though.
They typically contain an ARM9 CPU clocked somewhere in the region of 133-200MHz. Think GP32 or the main CPU of the Nintendo DSi.
Guess you could build a 'Simon' with its LEDS. Insert network cables into the right sockets to match the sequence..hours of fun.
