I dont think there extremely rare but there not common. You can find them on Ebay sometimes for about $20-$100 personally I wouldent pay more then about 40 unless it was bundled with a game or too, but thats just me.
Agreed with Keiyentai... If we're rating on a rarity scale from one to ten (1 being common, 10 being rare) I'd put it at about 6. Last I checked, they go in the high sixties, low seventies....but I wouldn't pay that, as I need more Genesis stuff like I need a kick in the ass. Nomad is the sort of thing that you'll eventually come across cheap if you just wait long enough. Edit: 1,000 posts. How awesome is that? Not that awesome, but still kinda cool.
the thing is actually a bit harder to find in Europe. In fact - i suppose it has never been released in Europe - can someone confirm? cheers tubo
Nope, It was released in the US only. It's one US item that commands a moderately high price in japan.
Just curios, you looking to sell one or looking to collect? Although having an official portable Genesis is cool, I don't think I could ever bring myself to search out this system. If you are looking to buy this system, just hold out and check EBay and pawn shops. Things like this turn up all the time for reasonable prices. ^_^_^
They sound cool but there really crap, battery life runs out faster then a dose of the squits and you need the arm of jeff Capes to pick it up...
Plus it has the usual compatibility issues with imports, and the cart slot can get worn very quickly (a la saturn). Now the megajet, that's a cool machine
TBH, if you want a portable MD you have 3 choices - 1. Get a Nomad. But as stated by Wheelaa and Gleavepaul, it's a bit crap really. 2. Do what Ben Heckendorn did. Wire an LCD screen, battery pack and cart slot on to a Radica and make a custom case. This is also the crazy choice of the 3. 3. Get a GPX2 jobbie. I'm not the biggest fan of emulation and ROMs, but it seems a damn fine machine to me. And as long as you only dump (via SegaCD transfer suite) or d/l games you own, everyone's happy. This is probably the most sensible choice.
Aaaah! All of the Nomad hate. I love my Nomad personally. Yes it sucks up batteries like no tomorrow, but I still think it's a great piece of machinery. The screen is bright and clear, you can output to TV simulatenously, it has 6 face buttons, and an optional 2nd player port. I don't have too many imports, but it's played every one I've thrown at it (with the exception of Mega Man: The Willy Wars but a region cart takes care of that).
How rare is a mass produced system? It isn't. It's just in demand. People often confuse demand and market price for rarity. Not the same animal.
I havent really gotten a chance to playwith one much. There was a shop downtown call Northwest Family Home and computers. They had a SHIT load of rare stuff. Unfortnatly though they closed shop and you can only get stuff online or by telephone now..and there website is out of date.
last count ive got 3 (just coz they have different packin games) Its a nice machine shame ive never seen one in one of my planes - Super Nintendo games yeh but alas no sega stuff
good question im not so sure now, there all in my attic and cant get them out. It quite poss that im wrong and its just 2 different pack in games.
No worries. I'm pretty sure I've seen it with Sonic as well now I think about it..but seeing as how the packaging didn't change they could have stuck any game in really.
i have the nomad and megajet, only think bad about nomad is your right it eats battries like nothing else, have got a recharge pack ( boxed ) but dosent wanna play ball shame really but yeah ebays the place to look for nomads and megajets ( have 2 of them one boxed and one loose )
