is Wikipedia good to find out how many games were released on a particular platform in the US or are there better sites? says 783 was released on snes, that's an example and wiki also gives the list of games.
Do you want just the number? If you ever make a list by yourself using the data you'll figure out some missing/wrong/whatever sooner or later. But if you want just the number, IMO not even the platform holder/publishers will have the exact answer. You know, some people will just use diferente criteria... (can also be fun making lists n_n)
Its best to use fan pages, gamefaqs, wikipedia and mobygames. Because its hard to make accurate list with systems that have lot of released games.
If you're going by number of articles in a consoles games category that could be wrong. There may be game articles not created yet. If there's some list it depends on the system. Jaguars list is missing alot of games last I checked.
Not very. It was years before wikipedia reluctantly accepted the info that Donkey Kong's development was outsourced to Ikegami Tsushinki. And still they just acknowledge it as "some sources claim". Some articles are poor translations, some get incorrect data from crap sources and some are protected by ultraspergs that keep suppressing relevant edits for some dumb reason or another.
