Graciano1337 posted this in the videos thread, but it deserves its own: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ar0KojxIvmQ
Looks like Yu Suzuki has been hanging out with these guys since 2001: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZVmtDuMxAA He is only 53, granted Gunpei Yokoi was 56 when he got into a car accident.
Well if we are lucky, that probably gives us 20+ years to wait! IMAGINE, "SHENMUE III PRESENTED IN 600kHZ 19200x10800P, THERE IS NO MORE RYO, YOU ARE RYO! SUPER DIMENSIONAL 3D REALITY SIMULATOR WITH PEOPLE FROM FOREIGN COUNTRIES SPEAKING THE WRONG LANGUAGES!"
At this point I would take a DVD cinema of the Shenmue conclusion. I would die a happy man upon seeing this fantastic series finished off in some shape or form.
And still take place in 1986/7. By then they should be able to simulate the smell of urine in alleyways.
^^ IKNOWRITE? As much as I'd like to play it, I really just want to KNOW WHAT HAPPENS. A movie or a CG OVA would be fine. Sega would clean up on a CG OVA, you could do it in realtime and it would be comparatively inexpensive to reproduce. Sell it for $20.
My friend sent me a link to this and as soon as I saw Yu, I actually paused the video, cold chills, rocking etc thinking that I was actually about to witness the conclusion to Shenmue and that it'd be in a 2 minute YouTube video, also confirming that no Shenmue III ever. When I resumed, the video itself calmed my nerves a bit and I laughed. That laughter slowly turned to tears as the realisation dawn that actually, yes, this probably is the only closure to Shenmue I'll ever know. Pain.
but how can it end like this? worst thing ever! i want to believe that they hired someone to make up his voice saying those things.
Not bad, best mega64 video in ages On how they got Yu to say this, I can picture this as a short of indirect FUCK YOU DOLPHIN! (a serious japanese insult) to Segammy execs who wont give him the money to make the game. The irony here is that shenmue has to be the only game coming from japan that doesnt have that over the top bullshit. Even MGS jumped the shark in 2001...
Its funny I remember when Yakuza first appeared and loads of people thought it was the next Shenmue game. They spent a lot of cash developing Yakuza by all accounts and it has been very successful so maybe the Sega coffers could be liberated of a small amount to fund the next Shenmue game which probably wouldn't be as financially successful. I believe they could totally use the game engine from Yakuza to create the game as well, it would obviously need to be changed sllightly to re-create the Shenmue style of gameplay rather than the more confined feeling Yakuza style. It would be sweet if they let him finish his opus the guy is starting to look old these days.
