I bet a lot of you thought this was a post about the size of....err...well you know  Yesterday I ordered my new Sharp Aquas digital TV mobile phone (1 month wait due to selling out ! Bit like a Wii :lol so I asked the nice lady if the phone took SD cards since all Sharp stuff does. She said yes but the smaller type. So I instantly thought, "Ah, she means mini SD" then she pulled one out to show me. It was F*ing tinny !! Micro SD !! The thing is only 11mm x 15mm and 0.5mm think !! I have no idea what it's made out of but it's not plastic. Feels ceramic. Anyway, today I went out and bought a 1Gig micro SD complete with mini SD and normal SD adapters so that the micro SD can work in anything. Just take a look at how small this thing really is! I was shocked that they could make them so small. Yakumo
If there is one thing I learned with DS games: The smaller they are, the easier they are to lose if they are loose. In my opinion, small = pain in the ass if you lose things easily.
small devices benefit from the small size of removable media. I think I d rather have them focus on increasing the size and seek-time of the medium rather than have a smaller size.
The data rate on this Panasonic Micro SD is 5Mbps They had a no brand card that stated 6Mbps but I think it was better to go with a known brand even if it is slower. Yakumo
Well maybe we're heading into a new generation of neo-cartridge consoles? I could seriously imagine that a cartridge as big as a super famicom one could contain more than 50gb of free space if they use that method they used to press 1gb into 11x15x0,5mm. On the other hand, cartridges will be more expensive to produce than optical devices
the best compromise would be to have a large enough SAM buffer (Serial Access Memory) to dump large chunks of the optical medium's data, and run everything from there, like it was a cartridge. a similar concept can be applied on the cube using the 16MB of aux memory it has. load times would obviously still exist, unless you can dump the whole contents of the disk on SAM, but then again, the cost would be prohibitive for consumers to pay.
Looks about the size of the memory stick Micro in my phone - I only have one which means it only comes out of my phone to go into the card reader, making it tricky to lose!
there about a 4th the size of a ds card. Its amazing how much data one of those little things can hold... They work well for gaming, as that whats my supercard uses...however i've dropped them in between the keys on a keyboard one to many times and had to remove the keys to get 'em 0_o Ryan
Wait till they start upping the size. I know sony/scandisk is comming out with 8GB MSDuo this year and 32GB by 2009. ATM i am still more interested in size (storage space) not size (physical dementions).
very positive is, that these micro-sd cards have the same price as the standard sd cards. Memory Sticks are much more costly.
I got a 2GB MicroSD card for my phone, it was definitely at a premium compared to a regular SD card. The worst part was I bough a MiniSD before I bought the MicroSD, and opened it before I realized my mistake so I couldn't bring it back... and yea MicroSD is really tiny
I never seen a 2gig MicroSD. I assumed the highest they could get them at was at 1gig, which is what I bought. It is for my cellphone to hold my music files, although I hardly use it now since there isn't an adaptor out there where I can hook up my phone to the car to listen to the MP3s.
I use a standard mini-jack to tape convertor. I convert any mini-jack port's signal into EM information at the end of the tape tail, which is inserted in the car's FM cassette player
My phone uses those micro cards, I have a 1gb which is what was used to shoot the Every Extend Extra stuff Was a bit of a bummer when I had just bought a load of the normal cards cheap for my old phone
I dropped the micro SD down the slot in the keyboard today. Had to take off the keys I can see this staying in the phone as much as possible  I'll be mostly using it to watch movies and so on since I already have a tinny MP3 player which can hardly be noticed in the pocket so taking both with me isn't really a problem. Yakumo
That is the good thing about microscopic electronics, then you can easily take them with you. My cell phone is real small but by the time I put my wallet, keys, phone, and mp3 player in my pockets it adds up. I usually leave the DS or GBA at home and sometimes even the MP3 player because otherwise I look like I'm sporting a massive boner when I sit down and such with all this stuff bulging out.
LOL :lol: Is that a DS and a GBA ? or are you just happy to see me ? lol :lol::lol: awesome
