I was thinking about that, but first off i don't know how exactly i would do that and the wiring would end up being too long and that could result in the 32X not working properly. There will be a lot of wiring as is. I have to remove the MD cartridge connector and solder wires from that to the 32X main board. And then solder wires from the 32X cartridge connector back to the original MD connector again, just because i don't want the cartridges to stick up more than they normally do. It's gonna be a pain in the ass to fit together but i have a few ideas :)

EDIT: But sure if it can be done with a single small slide switch i'm all for it :)

Always nice to see a two year old topic bumped.

The main link is dead btw.

On the MegaDrive 2 Neptune mod you can wire the power lines together so you can run the whole thing with a single MD2 Power supply. Can I do the same thing with the MegaDrive 1? The MD1 Power supply is more powerful but the console might require all of it.

If I can, how do I then connect the power lines? Is it as simple as just soldering the PSU female sockets together?

I was wondering this, too, the other day. I am in the initial stages of the mod (well, my workbench in the basement is covered in junk) and simply hadn't crossed that bridge yet.

Asked a friend of mine yesterday who knows a lot more about electronics than I do. He agreed that the two PSU inputs should be soldered together. The 10V from the power supply will then be divided among the 32X and MD1.

I have ordered all the parts for this mod now. Hopefully I can get started next week :)

I just desoldered the AV in-socket on my 32X. And it looks like the sound from the MegaDrive (both mono and stereo) is only passed through a small jumper and back to the AV out again. So there should be no reason for wiring up the MegaDrives sound to the 32X.

The 32X should be able to make better sound but it must be handled on the MegaDrive side somehow...
