Hi guys this is a tutorial I made on how to make a Serial EEPROM Reader and Writer to Backup you Xbox EEPROM, which contains MacAddress details, HDD key and Live Key (Now Redundant). Total cost to make one of these is under $10, total time to make one is around 10 minutes. This is kind of a Part 1 to a series on modding the Original Xbox console, the other videos will be tutorials on: How to dump EEPROM From the console How to Soft mod How to TSOP How to Upgrade the RAM and a whole bunch more! It takes me on average about 2~3 DAYS to make these tutorials so please let me know what you think, even show your support by liking my videos and subscribing to my channel. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please Subscribe for more videos. If you're making a bunch of Xbox tutorials, post them all in one section. You have some in the Xbox section and here. That's just going to confuse people. I'd like to have all your tutorials in one easy place in one thread. I'll then sticky them in the Xbox section.
Ok, if I put them all in this sub forum as one thread, can that be stickied in the xbox sub forum? Or should I just post them all in xbox sub forum? Now I'm confused haha what at ever you think will be best mr. Hex
This will work on a 1.6, you'll need to rebuild the lpc OR you can just wire up the SDA and SCL directly to the EEPROM, the xbox uses an ATMEL 24co2n, it's a two wire EEPROM (you only need Serial Clock[SCL] and Serial Data [SDA], and VCC [between 3.3v and 6v!]) datasheet is here if anyone is interested. http://www.atmel.com/Images/doc0180.pdf
I'd just move them all together mate, so I'd merge them. It's good to see updated tutorials so, should also mention them in your signature. Once everything is together.
I probably wouldn't go through that much hasle, just to flash the eeprom. For my 1.6, I'm waiting for a modchip ( that a fellow member is making). Although, if the xbox HDD would be dead and you wouldn't have a modchip, I guess this method will work. Thanks, anyway.
I personally use an EEPROM reader to do all my OG Xbox modding... even for 1.6. Open it up, use EEPROM reader to get the EEPROM so that I can use XboxHDM and install a larger HD, etc. The difference with 1.6 is that you can't TSOP flash it, but you can still read/write the EEPROM just fine.
Do you use a soic8 clip? That would make it a 2min job then haha, well for 1.5 and below its a 2 min job but anyhoo haha I'm excited for my programmer to arrive hehe
No, I just hold the 2 pins in place with one hand in the right spots in the LPC pin header while using my other hand to control the mouse and hit the "Read" button... get a few dumps just incase. It's only gotta be there for a few seconds so I don't bother soldering it or using clips for such.
