Hi my friends, I just buy a couple of RAM carts for SEGA Saturn, but my question is... Is there a way to know the capacity of this? I know this exist in 1 and 4 M, so somebody know?. Some of then doesn´t have label and just in the back is a number 670-5847, the rest just Japanese... Regards, - Dr Afrokid
+1 yep all backup carts have same capacity. they just come in different colour, vendor inc. Sega obviously, stickers. etc.
All the ram carts tell exactly their capacity 1 o 4 mb the only one it does not display the 1mb ram is the one that come with King of fighters 95 that for obvious is a 1mb and I think it also say it in jap.
That is not completely correct, KOF 95 made use of a ROM-cartridge rather than a RAM-cartridge. This was a similar yet different technology in which frequently used game data was permanently saved on the cartridge in order to accelerate loading times because loading from the cartridge slot is faster than from CD. The main difference between both cart types is that KOF 95 and Ultraman have game content on the ROM cartridges whereas RAM-cartridges are empty by default. @original question There were only a few types of official cartridges, the unofficial ones being cheat modules, import adapters and backup cartridges or any combination of such features in one. Official cartridges: 1) Backup Memory Cartridge (grey, white, black, green, pink... I think that's all colors?) 2) 2 different ROM-Cartridges - King of Fighters '95 (PAL+JP) - Ultraman: Hikari no Kyojin Densetsu (JP) 3) RAM-Cartridges (sold separately & bundled with certain software) - 1MB-RAM (solid black, red label) - 4MB-RAM (smoke grey transparent, green/blue label) 1: Ultraman ROM 2: KoF 95 ROM 3: 4MB-RAM 4: 1MB-RAM (courtesy of Yakumo eh)
almost forgot. you can get the elaborated game cheat device that plug into the cart slot with control module that you can use to search...
Yes, it is combo, early ones have problems with later games and need mod. The parallel port used with comms card. Development is even possible with it. How it compares to psydev is unknown.
CartDev.Rev.B has the circuit board inserted into the cart slot and connected to the CartDev underneath too.
The KOF and Ultraman cartridges pictured above are ROM cartrdges. Because of that they only work for the games they're designed for.
damn, i had no idea there were so many memory card stickers before, only saw the WD ones before...kinda awesome. *edit ohhh last post explained it, nevermind
