I've got NFS: Undercover alpha version. and i have 2.0.9199 freeboot. Readme says "Crypted devkit XEXs now supported". But i tried to launch my NFS alpha - it doesn't work still. I patched XEX with X360GameHack - no luck. what should i do to launch it?
Probably requires debug extensions. If that's the case, it'll never run on a JTAG running a retail dashboard. -hl718
Anf if I upload an executable here will you look what's wrong? or it's forbidden here to post links to XEX?
Don't post the XEX of a commercial game. As far as running it, you'd likely need to do some low level editing which could be quite involved. And that's assuming none of the debug dependencies are intergral to operation. There is always the possibility that they cannot be coded around. For now, if you want to play it, run it on a real debug kit. -hl718
XEX from retail may not work its an entirely different build. Also alpha usually is debug so it must be ran off a disc or Xbox 360 HDD on a development kit, external HDD's are not supported for debug games. Also try the XeDebug, rumor is it allows hooks for jtags but never was given confirmation on that.
don't really need it... I have a disc "NFS Undercover promo" from EA. it can be launched from a disc on test/demo kit.
Test/Demo falls under the category of development kit since we aren't being too specific here. Those kits allow hooks, JTAGS do not.
Jtag's don't require xex patching AFAIK anymore. Retai / Debug xex's should run effortlessly from disc. If it does not then your build has debug hooks that JTAG's cannot handle.
I have a few debug games that refuse to run on my jtag, even used XeDebug but that failed as well.If the game uses debug libraries it will fail to launch on a jtag.
