    **UPDATED**

I'm looking to make/program my own mm3/stealth chips for my PS1s.
I can source raw chips at around $1.20ea.

    Is this a complicated process?
It seems relatively simple with the correct tools.

SO far I have purchased this cheap unit.

    $T2eC16R,!zQFIb4ERv0HBSQnpMOCYg~~60_12.JPG

    I also ordered PIC12F629 & PIC12C508A Chips.

    My Current Questions Are:

    1. Whats the Best/supported software to use.? I found "icprog106C" but haven't used it (yet)

    2. I have Hex code for the MM3 and the Stealth Chip.
I'm working with a few early playstation 1000 & 1001 models, some say that MM3 are not usable on these model (most use Stealth chip)
    IS this true? Why?

    3. Most of these Hex codes are made for the 12C508. Since I am a noob I want to use rewritable chips since I Will screw-up a few times. Which HEx codes are made for this particular chip 12F629 and can I have links to such

    Thanks,

It is as simple as you think. I use a serial jdm pic programmer, pretty cheap.

Thanks, I updated my original post. Making headway (i hope) Waiting for items to arrive in the mail and I hope to gather more info before I start wasting chips.

Most of them all will work fine for this. WinPic, PICProg, are a few others.

Just remember to keep track of the osccal for 12f629. See http://picprojects.org.uk/projects/piccal.htm

Someone else might know the technicalities why.

    According to master991:

For scph 100X series the best chip it's mayumi V1 or V2 or Multimode V2.
MM3 or mayumi V4 are absolutely not reccomended for 100X series.

Just google 12f629 mm3 and it'll come up with relevant links for your region.
