How to Properly burn cd-r to install link83 bios for dreamcast?

I was wondering how you all burnt cd-r to flash a piggybacked mxlv160tmc-90 chip in a dreamcast? ive tried to use nero burning rom and downloaded the link83.nrg file from mmmonkey's site. it dont work for me it gives me the insert disc popup on the dreamcast. is there any alternative way to achieve this? im tired of making coasters

 

Use Dreamshell CD.

yes it is a VA0. i tried to burn a dreamshell disc and got the same insert disc error. before i did this mod it was reading cd-r fine. the wiring i did for the chip has been followed to a t with the extra wiring that is needed for this version mobo. i tested every single connection numerous times they are all connected with no cold joints.. none are touching the others that shouldnt be.. im very frustrated

download the one that says its for old jp DC and it should work OK.

If you cant flash the chip or it doesnt work right, its because you are using a 3.3v chip on a 5v console. The mod that says to do this really shouldnt exist, you should just use a preprogrammed 5v chip (dreamshell cant program the 5v chips at the moment, I have been working with Swat to add support)

 

Right i've seen that mentioned. ill try to burn that DS version and if it fails.. ill be sending a PM to buy a preflashed chip if you have any in stock. Thanks to everyone that has helped me. i will report back right after i burn the cd-r and tried it out

didnt work.. it stayed in an endless loop trying to read the disc without the insert disc popup ever showing up.

 

what did you burn the CDI file with?

 

i used alcohol 120 but the download didnt contain a cdi file rather a mdf file

strange.. theres no cdi file in that zip folder.. i try opening with winrar and it just freezes and i think is pw protected? i open with 7zip it has the mdf files like the other one i downloaded

i was able to extract and it has mdf files no cdi

 

3 files sorry.. one txt file one DShell 4.0.0 RC1 JPN.mdf and a DShell 4.0.0 RC1 JPN.mds file

 

MDF/MDS is just CD Image for IMGBurn/Alcohol

 

yea but i tried burning it in alcohol and that didnt work in the DC.. imgburn says the file isnt supported..
