how to read or extract 1st_read.bin

hello again im working on a project that i will upload in the next days but i have to make some modification to 1st_read.bin. is their any tool that can make the thing a little clear?? hex editor is a little chinese to me

ahh thanks for reply.. ihave succesfully created the unreleased code code veronica x for dc using the game files mainly from the usa version and ad from the japan version the extra files that give more videos. so here the problem. if i use the 1st_read.bin from the japan version the game files i found are japanish also the english ones are displayed with big spaces between them. if i use the usa version 1st_read.bin
the game is complete english but don't handle correct some of the extra things. so either input in japan 1st_read.bin the english text from the usa 1st_read.bin. or fill the missing code for proper use of the extra things in the usa 1st_read.bin

 

That kind of modification can be trick and wire complex. Especially if the new translated text is longer than the original one.

They managed to do it for the Shenmue translation project though, you might check out their approach or contact them for help.

 

i have already look in their forums. they have a lot of tools for translate shenmue that you can download. one of their tools called binary translator. but is also the only of their tools they haven't release for the public for some reason. i don't thing they are gona trust me and give me the tool (possibly they will fear that im gona give the binary translator anywere)

 

It's very unlikely the tool would work on another game anyway. You might ask them for help though.

 

also i'm about to release my work. i have contact the dreamcast-talk.com if they let me i will give them my links. also they are deep in moding so they may finish what i start. i can also give the links here (its both cds in gdi format. tools including your selfboot utilities gdi builder and a read me file that cover everything ive done) if that isn't against forum rules

 

You could ask a moderator to be sure.

The translating of binaries is basically reverse engineering. It might really help you to get help.

You have to do it manually, that's why it's hard.
