Hello, long story short, I have two rare games to sell which have zero market value in the west (put them on ebay, no one is interested), but I think will fetch a nice sum in Japan (I know because I got them in some pretty intense bid wars on yj years back, we're not talking about a few hundreds € but a lot more). What are my chances?

My first thought was sending them to someone resident in japan to put them on yj and paying them a commission for the trouble.

    Any other ideas?

yahoo Japan is probably your only option but you'll need someone over here to do the work and sell the games.

You can also sell stuff on Amazon.jp surprisingly. I've never been able to work out how to convert my YA account to a seller account, so that's what I've done.

if you don't know anyone in japan and you can't go there yourself (a good way is to find people who just deal with importing stuff from japan all the time - i know people who just sit around doing YAJ for westerners for money), your best bet is trying to find someone to do what you said iin your original post OP. there have been recent new laws which make importing/exporting a little trickier so for a while some japanese stores that gladly sold internationally stopped doing so for about a year. anyway, my point is the next best thing from finding someone who will buy it from you in japan or someone who will sell it for you in YAJ is listing it on eBay and hoping someone in japan buys it. unfortunately you won't be allowed to sell on amazon.jp or YAJ or any similar site without a japanese address. another thing you might try is emailing stores who sell on rakuten directly since they deal with buying people's used games all the time, if they want them they'll write back and work with you on purchaisng them, but since they're a store you won't get as good of a price as YAJ, but with the restrictions on needing to live in japan to sell it makes it difficult to have many alternatives. good luck !

No, the few people who use eBay in Japan use the American site.

I've been able to work out why I was never able to make a seller account on YA. Turns out you need a proper credit card, not a Visa debit card like I had. This might cause some issues for you, since I'm not sure if YA will accept a non-Japanese credit card or not.

It won't, as you need a CC that is registered with a JPN address. One of the benefits is that all sellers have a credit card that is based in Japan as a means of fraud protection.
