I'm looking at a console which a guy says it has an xecuter chip in it, but when I asked he said he didn't know, it's just how he got it. is there anyway I can ask for him to see what chip he is running from the dash?
You can only tell what bios you're running through EvoX. Only other way is to open up the XBOX and check the LPC area for the chip.
There's an app which does exactly that. Although if it's a cheap knock-off version, it might not know the correct make. I'll try to look for it. EDIT: it's called BIOSchecker I think (it recognises certain types of chips too), this can be found easily.
Yeah, guess you're right, haven't tried this in a LONG while... PS Well, if it's an X3, you can check by holding the white button when booting the console, it'll show up the X3's BIOS firmware menu with all kinds of options. Don't think this works on an X2 though. EDIT: Also: he probably THINKS there's an Xecuter chip inside because the boot screen (bios) says Xecuter2 underneath the Xbox logo... My thought is, it'll most likely be an Aladdin clone or a Duo-X2, as these are good quality/sold in large quantities. Ask a pic, better than words.
well he has the xecuter banks switch thing in front of the console. i could tell which xecuter chip it is just by the looks of that right?
X2.6 also have physical switches you mount under the front panel to turn mod ON/OFF, switch between banks and protect flash from write. The board is composed of 3 "sliding" switches and a few LEDs. It's designed to be mount in the groove at the exact center of the front panel.
