How to test a xbox debug console

Hi!

Just got a quick question about testing a debug. I'll be recieving one these days, but the seller doesn't know if it works. He says there might be a problem with the dvd-drive. Its also a US console, the seller couldn't test it because of the lack of a 220v->110v converter.

I do have a power converter, so my question is, how can I test the drive properly. I could pop in a music cd, a dvd movie, but game-wise, what can I use, since it doesn't play regular games? Any discs recommended (or offered)?

Any help is much appreciated! It will also come with some Devkit Software.

Grab a debug build of something.

If you have a debug build of a game use that. If not, grab a debug build of some homebrew program and burn it to a disc.

...If you have the SDK, grab a sample from it, say the dolphin app, burn and test.

...If can only network neighbourhood (which usually means you have the sdk!) into the console, grab off the dolphin app, burn it to disc and test.

...In other words you already have files to test with, possibly.

 

Could he also use NN to apply the hack_devkit and try to boot retails?

 

Easiest answer, burn music to a DVD-R. If it'll read that, you should be good.

Yeah I got it and it worked fine. Nothing wrong with it, the guy just didn't know how it works, thats all.
