:lol::lol::lol::lol: Okay I know that is fake but a great pic! Really how did you make the bubbles?
RichardX, :| he is serious. Jinn, how did that fan go? I think those pics bring a whole new meaning to an unhealthy system.
It's not my system http://junkypc.com/i-deep-fried-my-computer-literally/ I figured we all needed a good laugh
can of air is all i need, i mean i dont even know why you would need to submerge a piece of computer hardware to clean it, like seriously how long do you plan on keeping it? and how can it get that dirty...
Cooling entire computers by submerging them in a tank of a non-conductive oil (such as mineral oil) was all the rage in the late 90s/early 00s. Those pictures show some sort of hot plate under the container of oil and there is no way the mobo wouldn't short itself out on that aluminum pan. Extremely effective cooling method, your average transformer on the power pole outside your house is submerged in oil. When it leaks the things tend to arc like mad with showers of sparks. At night they look like bombs going off.
I'll give you an example. A few years ago we lived at a house. It had a large basement and we kept a computer down there when we got a new one. However what we didn't know was the drains were fucked (to be blunt) and so when there was very heavy rain (What bradford has been getting recently probably qualifies) it would run into our basement. 6ft of shitty muddy water got in because the road wasn't tarmacced and huge muddy puddles formed. It stayed like that in the loft here for along time (coated in mud etc) til I used this method.
Jamma boards are cleaned with water too ... I thought most of the guys here would know that you can clean electronic boards with water if you are very careful
I feel so freaked out after seeing these images.. like someone was cutting off the head of a cute baby unicorn. Despite the shock I ll also advise against this for the reasons that retro covered. That said, your mobo will work in a bath of (some) oil, and by work I mean function while it is submerged. anyway, I m a traditional guy, I like moisture to be as far away from my electronics as possible (save for batteries that use liquid electrolytes!)
