I don't think it'll work. AFAIK, there's only a CPK to AVI converter...nothing for the .mov movies. The only other ones I've seen are on some Saturn promo discs I have, and I've never had any luck w/ getting them to play on a PC.
Are you sure there not Cinepak .cpk or FILM, they might just be showing up in .mov for some wierd reason? There's a tool to pull the movies off the disc but I couldn't find it anymore, search around for a saturn movie converter and you can probably find it. I didn't even know there was .mov on Saturn, wasn't that made by Apple?
yeah, i'l tried those programs and it doesnt work . the game has the "CRI ADX" logo on the back, so no cpk or avi. I opened one of them with winhex, and this is what i got: it sais apple in there... but vlc/quicktime/firefox wont open....
The Saturn Grandia movies are cinipack. You can watch ALL Saturn movies on your PC as long as you have the codec. The Saturn Codec is out there !! I had it before the PC died. In fact I got it from a very kind person here. I hoe they can send it to me again because I'm stuck using the Saturn Cinipack viewer now which is poor at best. If you want to view games encoded with TrueMotion then you'll need the player which you can get from my FTP. Saturn MPEG files are recorded in the same way as Dreamcast so you'll need a converter to convert them to avi if you want to watch them on your PC. Oh and CRI ADX is audio compression so that has nothing to do with the video. Yakumo
To be honest, and i could be crazy here, i thought that some of the movies on some of the saturn games were just quicktime. A really, really, really old version of quicktime. Then again i don't remember what i had for lunch yesterday...
ok, I'm going to throw Grandia in to the PC later and check it out. I'm sure they can be watched on a PC. By the way, Evangelion the CPK2AVI converter is shit. Never works that well. Most of the time it only gives back audio !! You need the real cinipack codec then you can use the likes of virtual dub to convert the file. Yakumo
whatever i've found a viewer/converter http://sasho.hp.infoseek.co.jp/index/ss4pc.htm the name is Winvdt2. it was meant to be registered but it seems that the autor is now impossible to contact. i happen to have a code but i doesn't know if it is fine to divulge it on the forum even if it is impossible to register it nowadays. contact me in private for more infos.
Well Mr. Evangelion, you were right ! These discs don't play ina PC but what's even more interesting is that the FMV on Grandia Digital Museum is in high resolution ! And even more odd is that the files can't be found on the disc !! One a good note I did find the Saturn cpk codec on my harddrive, this will allow you to watch Cinipack video using any player such as Windows media player. Yakumo
sure in fact it's on my FTP ! use the assembler log in to get it. The info is IP - segagagadomain.serveftp.com LOGIN - assembler PASS - games PORT - 21 The file is a rared one called "Saturn CPK movie codec for XP.rar" I'll be adding some other Saturn stuff to it in the future such as the Truemotion and saturn Cinipack encoders so that you can make videos that will run on the Saturn.
