    Hey guys!

I am considering playing back my collection of Final Fantasy games from 1 to 12.

The problem is: I have no TV / monitor.

I have been lurking around to find the best solution. Computer monitors don't seem to be the best because most of them don't have composite/component/SCART/optical audio.

Hence, I made up my mind and now I am considering buying a HDTV.

    Here is the beast:

    SAMSUNG 5300 SPECS

    Inputs & Outputs:

I am willing to play my favorite saga with enhanced graphics, but on a PS2, since I don't have a PS3.
(by enhanced graphics I mean less fuzzy texts mostly)
I will use component cables as well as an optical audio cable.

Although I am worried if it is possible and about the quality I will get in the end.

    My questions:
    • Can I hook up my PS2 to that TV using component cables for PS2/3 ?
    • Can I set the resolution of the games to 4:3 ratio and avoid a stretched image ?
    • Will the quality be good since it is a 32" HDTV, or will it be utterly jaggy ?

My knowledge when it comes to TVs is quite poor so...
any feedback / opinions / suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!!

    Thank you!

      - I bought a 3rd party component cable for a PS3 to use on my PS2 because it said it was compatible. Other than the insanely tight fit of the connector it works just fine.
    • Can I set the resolution of the games to 4:3 ratio and avoid a stretched image ?
      - That should not be a problem. Both of my TVs have that option and have not yet seen one that is lacking it.

    • Will the quality be good since it is a 32" HDTV, or will it be utterly jaggy ?
      - I am running my PS2 and lower games on a 40" HDTV and the quality is perfectly acceptable. The only Final Fantasy games I played on it were 6, 7 and Tactics. I needed a few minutes for my eyes to adjust but was good to go after that.

    1.Yes
    2. Yes
    3. They'll be ok

To be honest you're better off saving your money and picking up a large 4:3 ratio CRT with RGB capabilities. It'll be a fraction of the cost and a far better experience.

Yeah get a CRT. On my flat screen everything before this gen looks awful.

Yeah, get 4:3 21-29" СRT. Alternative - plasma panel + scaler, which is 30 times more expensive.

    Thanks for all your answers

I am likely to buy this HDTV since I have the need for a TV.

Now the question is, should I play my FF collection either on my PS2 or buy a refurnished 60go PS3 ?
I found some bargains already, ranging from 160 to 220$
I live in France, so I need a PAL one

    Then I found this vid:

    on a 32" HDTV
    Smoothing option on

    I might go for a 60go PS3...
