    Hello,

I wasn't sure if I had to post here, I also saw the translation thread, but anyway, here is my request :

I'm offering 50usd (paypal paid) to whoever can put me in a successful contact with a Native Japanese to help proofreading/translating some RPG script.

    English > Japanese direction.

I would seek for someone who :

    - motivated
    - can read/write/understand english
    - play RPGs
    - eventually has translation/proof reading experience
    - good writing skills
    - have some free time from now
    - do not ask too much money ^^

    Thank you very much :)
I hope some people here understand the odd nature of my request :p

That's a tall order mate. Especially the last 2 options. As far as I know there are no native Japanese users on ASSEMbler. I do know people who can read and proof read Japanese to English, English to Japanese but they have no idea about games. This may not seem too important but believe me it is. I once asked someone to translate a Japanese interview in to English which was a right pain in the arse simply because they didn't know gaming words.

Wait... are you offering US$50 for someone to introduce you to someone who can translate some RPG script for you, or to actually do the translating.

If you're offering US$50 to actually translate something... you're off your rocker. That's joke money for translating, to be blunt.

    Yo Yakumo :)

Well, if I ask here, its because I couldn't locate anyone, which is quite a drama for me.
    Translation would be English>Japanese direction.
And yeah, being an videogame/rpg player is a requirement.

"Especially the last 2 options. "
Yep, but again, with some luck!

I'm not sure I'm THAT bad in English :p
50bucks are for the guy who provide the contact. The translation job is a different business ;)

    Thanks guys!

Wait... you want something translated from English to Japanese??? Really?

Can I ask why? How many pages long/words would it be?

I could do the translating with my (Japanese) wife depending on how hardcore you want to be with it. She's home all day anyway as she's pregnant, although we couldn't get started on a job until at least sometime in April.

I don't know if she's up for it or not, though. She does have professional translation experience within the Japanese court system, for the record. I play lots of games. She plays some games, although there's a gap between the early 90s and Wii-era for her.

So, just how much word are you looking at having done, here?

    That's very relative.

I think you need someone native from both sides to do a really great translation. One to do the initial stuff, then the other to polish it up and re-word so it makes perfect sense and feels perfectly natural to the culture.

You generally only need a native speaker of the language it's going into to do the brunt of the work... and a native speaker of the original language for the occasional hurdle. Even professional translations are done this way.

Okay, I PMed you back. If we can work out something, then great, but if not... all the best.

Either way, it's a great project! I've done a bit of research on it and now know exactly what you're doing and had my wife watch a few videos of it to get an idea. Still, as we're relocating in the coming weeks I don't know if I can help you much for a month or so (as I said in my PM). If you can wait until May, or even better June, I'd have an easier time helping you.

What I'm saying is that if anyone else out there can help translate and proof-read a great gaming project in Japanese, make this man an offer! He deserves good work!

Yeah, thanks for your answer. I'm sorry but I cannot wait.

Can anyone here here post a message about it on some Japanese websites?

I've seen some websites in China where people focus on writing articles about a particular type of game or anime. This hobby comes from Japan apparently and it could be a way to locate motivated guys.

I know its short but, well, regular methods do not seems to work.

    150$ now. Please help!
    Thanks!

Offer still available. I really beg help for everyone who can do something.
I may have to take a flight and catch everyone at an uni exit until found ^^.

    Thanks
