I hope they do a PAL version - I only have a handful of US carts!

Hope it's a new design internally and not the same old Chinese SNES-on-a-chip clone crap.

I can see what ya saying mate, some of the custom made snes portables are betting looking. but for the "non modders" (like my self) it would be a awesome portable.

Saying that, my PSP with CFW can play snes roms via emu.

I love my Super NES, but I really can't be bothered untangling all the wires and plugging it in. But I have a big box of old carts I'd love to play from time to time, so I'd love to get my hands on this little beauty.

Asthetics aside, there is something very desirable about it though - something that will take the actual carts is very cool :p

    Ug, I hope so.

The sound generation of virtually every *-on-a-chip clone is off just slightly on every channel and it makes me cringe every time. The video is usually so close I can't tell the difference.

There's little question it will reuse clone chips, but actually the SNES is cloned extremely well. AFAIK it's perfect (using my Gamestation as a reference, everything probably uses the same chip mask). Pretty much all Chinese clones are cloned from a chip mask, so in theory should be identical provided the correct wiring and support circuitry. In reality little inaccuracies are introduced by inexact transistor size and composition and specs of dust and crap obscuring the design optically when being extracted, and that's where human error comes in.

    This thing looks hideous though.

Why use the US design as a template of sorts. That's so ugly. man, a SFC design would be much more pleasing.

I have the FC16GO (another portable snes) and it's actually pretty good.

The only games that refuse to work are the one using S-DD1 chip (and of course the 50Hz region locked games), otherwise every game I tried works (I have at least one of each special chip enhanced game, I've tried everything from DSP-1 to SA-1 including the odd seta chips inside shogi games :) ).

The sound seems ok from my experience (it's not awfull as on many nes on a chip or genesis on a chip).

Nothing to complain about (except the blurry lcd screen) if the supaboy uses same hardware it may be an excellent alternative to play snes on the go on real hardware.

Compatibility complaints and crappy video are the usual complaints. They do often support S-Video, but I recall on one I saw it actually looked worse than the composite :/

If Calpis is right and the core chips themselves are perfect then it's even more disappointing that previous clone SNES units still had problems.

I read that the Pandora will give 9 hours of use! Sure, it's emulation but SNES emulation these days is pretty much stop on. The hardawre looks much better too.

You do realise the Pandora costs $500, or 440 Euro, right? At that price it bloody ought to play SNES games at full speed.

That said... I think the statement "SNES emulation is spot on these days" is somewhat questionable when it comes to ARM-based handhelds.

Seriously, I can't imagine this being much more than a curiosity, because who wants to haul a bunch of SNES carts around?

500$ for playing actual cartridges on the go? That's insane. I could buy a PSP for 100$ anytime and use an emulator with ROMs of all the games I own. Cheaper and much more convenient.
