it's got nothing to do with the psp. I'm just pointing out how the wii u's controller has a button layout that's nearly identical as that of the 3ds.
System design, Nintendo style: 1. Make a system with plenty of pointless empty space 2. Release games that require second analog stick 3. Release a new system with a second stick in the pointless empty space, screwing over all the suckers...I mean "early adopters"
You're right, but I doubt there are more button layout choices. I think almost every modern portable console has the same layout. We could even say that PSP has the same layout. You can't do big changes... All of them are just a PS2 controller with a screen on top... SEGA was ahead of its time! ;-) Indeed!
When we have Hologram games in 20 years we can all be like FUCK YOU Sega did that shit with Time Traveler and Holiseium 40 years ago
i'd like this to be true. personally i think the xbox analogue sticks are the most comfortable out there.
I do not approve of the circle pad found on the 3DS/WiiU, it's just not as good as the GC or even the N64 iteration.
The n64 controller's stick was fantastic... until it wore out so much it'd lean on any side by default. have you tried to do the more complicated tricks in 1080° snowboarding with such a worn-down stick? doing a 1080° is almost impossible unless you're reading to break your own thumb just for it.
I disagree. I think the circle-pad is one of the 3DS's coolest features. It's far more usable that any other portable analog stick I've tried. True, it's not as good as the GC, but you have to make some concessions to make it fit in a handheld. Controls on a handheld need to be mostly flat so you can store it without causing damage to them. This is especially the case with the 3DS because it has a clamshell design; it wouldn't be able to close if there were a GC-style analog stick on it. Anyway, I think it's far better than the standard N64 controller. It's incredibly smooth and responsive, and very springy. I really think it's about the best you can do for a handheld. Not to mention it's infinitely better than using an iPhone to do the same thing. Now, the Wii U is a different story. That probably should have GC-style analog sticks. Then again, the sticks appear to be a good deal larger and thicker than the circle pad, so maybe it works out. I don't know; I don't think anyone can really make a judgement until we get to see it ourselves.
Eh, I think with an N64 stick in great condition, it handles better than the 3DS joystick. Mainly because the joystick on the 3DS just feels like a d-pad with one of those joystick "expansions" slapped on it, like the ones that existed for the GBA, just flatter. Nothing beats the GC controller though, or even the N64 hori-mini pad.
