I just restarted Metal Gear Solid 2 Tanker took me 5 hours. I'm struggling through Big Shell (I have like NO AMMO) I do not remember MGS2 being this hard. Then again last time around I had the guide. But GOOD GOD this game is hard now last time I breezed through it in a week. Last time was 10 years ago. I did get stuck on that Metal Gear Ray battle. I don't think it's because I'm older. Not too long ago I beat Mega Man X for the first time. I can still clear Mega Man III without continuing and until Sky Base I can kick Sonic 2's ass.
MGS2 is kinda cheap at times. I very often get in situations where it seems like there's absolutely no good way out. When that happens, all you can do is kill yourself. I still think it's a pretty fun game, and it has a really cool atmosphere and story. I will say this: get the M9. It makes the game much easier and more enjoyable.
When I started MGS3 the other day it took me an hour just to cross that bridge now I'm stuck on the Ocelot fight. I think I'm in the minority but I don't hate Raiden.
MGS2 is my favorite in the serie... the place fitted the gameplay... i can just suggest you using chaff granades instead of shooting those fliying robots... you'll save a ton of ammo!
That I remember. I don't get it MGS2 plays way better than 3. 3 is a complete mess in gameplay plus in 3 when I pick up an item it doesn't equip. 2 is just about perfect the VR missions are amazingly fun.
I really liked Raiden, too, and MGS2 is one of my favourite games of all time. I recently bought the HD remake, and it took me longer than usual to complete the tanker... I didn't remember the location of many things. This from a man that used to play this whole game in one sitting on weekends... I'm waiting, desperately, for ZOE2 HD remake.
I can wait for the ZOEHD collection You'd think burning every PS2 game ever would make you inclined to play them...but no. But I digress. Any HD remaster Konami puts out I'll buy........wait ok ALMOST every I hear the Silent Hill collection is just 2 and 3.
I think we used to focus more on games years ago. Now we take for granted that we are experienced gamers, who beat a lot of games, and dont take games too serious anymore. But we dont even notice that because games nowadays are too easy, so in our unconsciousness we are still playing great.
I have never been a particulary good gamer, but I can beat Sonic 2 without losing a life with my eyes closed, all emeralds too. In fact, the same could be said about all the Genesis Sonic games
I was able to 1CC Thunder Force V on the PSX when I was in college. I could also do most first party Nintendo games with similar grace. I was particularly good at Star Fox and F-Zero. Now, good luck getting past the first few levels of anything. My lady and I did clear Mega Man 2 this weekend, though. We used save states, so it's not as valid as an actual cartridge victory, but still. It hurts to grow old... I used to be able to get through Mega Man X and X2 with just one life. I have yet to beat MM9. Or Hard Corps uprising. Or Radiant Silvergun. Fuck. Too bad I have too much work lately, I guess.
I have yet to clear the First Level of Raident Silvergun. Hard Corps uprising I'm just taking my sweet ass time getting back to. Mega Man 9 I get stuck in the flame pillars in Wily Castle. (But I can effortlessly beat Mega Man 10)
Pfffff! Sonic 2 HARD? seriously? I can beat that game while getting brain surgery... And its flying fortress, unless you mean sky chase in which case bro, you suck at classic sonic... The worst part of Sonic 2 is definitely the Death Egg: no rings and 2 bosses, one of which is the FINAL boss. Your very first time you'll probably run out of lives and continues before figuring out how to beat the bigass mecha, and have to start the game all over again cause Sonic 2 has no save feature, unless you're using an emu.
Of MGS2, I remember feeling the fat guy on roller-skates was a bit far fetched and didn't ever manage past his battle.
Fatman. It has been a while since I played MGS2 (2006), but I never had any problems even on European Extreme mode. Which mode are you playing on? MGS4 is the hardest in the series in my opinion and experience, but it is also my favourite out of them all. I could seriously play that game on and on, non-stop, forever.
I'm surprised here since I've always felt MGS 2 and 4 to be the weakest of the series. MGS 2 for me feels unfinished in places and rushed at the end and feels like there could have been so much more to it. There is this huge fortress under the platform and they only show three rooms of it? Vamp also came off for me at least as too out of place (Even for MGS) and just a bad in-joke on Konami's part Finally, I don't think Raiden wouldn't have been nearly hated as much if Konami had done a B-Side (like Resident Evil 2) and allowed you to play Snake's side of the story. What I didn't care for about MGS 4 was the globe trekking level design. For me it made the game feel more like a collection of shorter stories rather than one larger one. If they had cut it down to one or two larger areas I think it would have flowed better for me. They also had the same problem in 4 with the final area that they had in 2. A huge fortress like structure that you only get to experience very little of. The overall story after MGS though is what I really dislike. I think they just went way too far out there with 2 and were locked in and forced to deal with it in 4. Part of me really thinks Kojima did MGS3 as a prequel to have enough time to figure out how to move forward after 2. I will admit though that they managed to tie things up with 4 a hell of a lot better than I ever thought they would.
I think MGS2 is a great game. I was never able to really get into MGS4. It felt like they were trying to Gears of War-ify MGS. Anyway, I got a message from Nintendo saying they'll be releasing a demo for Snake Eater 3D soon, so that should be cool.
What's with the advertisements in MGS4? I tried to watch a lets play of it before I got distracted and there were like fake ads in the game.
