I found SCART cables at a local thrift store here in Florida, USA!

Does it really? I don't even know if there is an official RGB SCART cable for the SNES. I've seen the official RGB JP-21 cable for the Super Famicom on eBay, and the last time I checked, a guy was selling a bunch of them on eBay for about $80 in new condition. He also offered to rewire it for SCART for no extra charge. I thought about getting it but I ultimately purchased a fully shielded and grounded C-Sync RGB SCART cable from retro_console_accessories. It works perfectly and looks great! Does anyone know how good the official cable is?

Reason is that the snes and super fami are the same hardware, that's why it was used but there was never a official rgb scart for the snes.

Would I be able to then take the mobo from an American SNES and put it into a SFC shell? That's what I've heard but I wish they did. It would probably be expensive though.

If I recall correctly, the rear panels are different. You might want to double check.

    Your right BuffaloWing.

For a snes mobo in a super fami case it will fit but not a perfect fit, wont line up correctly.
Guess a bit of sanding would work.

Could the rear panels be replaced with the one from a Super Famicom? I have always wanted a Super Famicom but had to settle on an American SNES as it was cheaper. I figured I could get one with a good condition case and a non-repairable mobo. Maybe I should just get a PAL SNES instead and just use my NTSC SNES for NTSC games.

    They can be replaced.

But a pal snes will cost more than a super famicom

I've seen PAL SNES consoles on eBay and they are expensive for some reason. While the Super Famicom is cheaper, I find a lot of the times Japanese sellers on eBay with a nice condition SFC will charge something like $60-$75 to ship it to the US in addition to the $60-$95 they charge for the actual system. Is a complete in box Super Famicom really $60 to ship to the US? I wouldn't think it would cost that much unless they designate a whole shipping container filled with packing material for it.
