Alright, so I got banned by one of the admins from this page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/Aust.Game.Trading/ (can't remember the actual title, but there's the link). Reason is unknown, and I have sold something to one of the members on there. Can no longer ask questions or reply. I have the member's money too. Well done. So I have a feeling I was banned because I stated the fact that it's normal for someone to ask if the cart they are buying SNES or NES if it's a reproduction or genuine board. Admins response to that the other night was "You have to take someone's word for it"... Really now?? I also was discussing with another member that the storage towers for the Nintendo 64 are not worth A LOT (his words) and I just basically said they were sold in dollar stores in my state for a while not worth that much really. That comment wasn't even what the person was selling, they were selling advertising cards about a Star Wars bundle. Neither of the statements were rude or anything so I don't get it. Oh and they advertised on MY youtube channel in the comments. Assholes. Not only was I banned for stating a perfectly reasonable statement, I now cannot communicate with the person who bought something from me. So the member who was insulting my intelligence about the XBOX 360, didn't get banned for starting an argument with me and other members of the group, but I get banned. Goes to show that the admins know nothing about what their page is for, and can't take criticism. What a joke.
Gotta love those Facebook admins! My friend was doing spam about "selling some popsicles" with a photo of a guy licking one on a trade group. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) He didn't got banned after all, because "his post was not against the rules"... lol
It's Facebook. Just sent the person you were dealing with a PM. If you want clarification, PM one of the admins - their names are listed. It does state admin will only interfere when something has become a problem. The group rules state no pirated games - that's probably why they say you have to take their word for it... because they're not supposed to list repros. And they say not to hijack a thread - perhaps they considered you doing that by taking it off topic? Bit strange, but oh well. Move on.
Most of the groups are full of low-ballers, idiots and resellers who think they shit gold bricks. Essentially, mostly muppets. The only positive thing I've come across over there are some genuine collectors you get to meet and greet and do deals with that way more so. Muppets everywhere! Edit: These are the rules on there...
I followed every single one of those rules. :/ I just got banned without notice and that was that. Fucking joke they are. Pretty much avoid it, admins all "like" each others posts and band together.
Yeah, because it's clearly not fucking dodgy when someone (one of the admins) refuses to take photos of cartridges and that you're expected to take their words for it being legit. ... The box of fake and repro cartridges I've ended up with would make me highly suspicious if you can't take a photo of the item I'd like to purchase to check the general condition as "it's good" doesn't cut it for me. :/ Bunch of wankers I'd say Hex.
The funny thing was, the guy asked for photos of the back of the cart, which the admin did, but one of the other admins said, people should just take other's word for it and not ask. So I mentioned that a repro could have a real case but a fake board inside (some go through extreme measures) like the Little Samson story a few weeks back. Regardless who it is, admin or whoever open the damn cart if people ask if it's genuine... But exactly, they are a bunch of wankers and they need to wake up to the collecting market. Other grip of mine is that admins snap everything up as soon as it's posted. No wonder why they ban people at the drop of a hat. Also love the amount of skill in the rules, very well written.
Oh, that's for sure. I've got a couple of fake Pokemon cartridges in that box that have real or at least shells duplicated from the real ones (not like it's particularly hard to make a mold of the shells anyway), the seller at the very least wasn't aware that they were fake, gave me a refund and told me to keep the carts as they were useless anyway. So it can happen to both common and rare titles and I personally feel that a photo should be provided regardless to avoid situations like that. As for the admins snapping up everything, that's what I like about coming onto the forums here - it's whoever typically gets there first gets dealt with properly and people don't get dicked around on here. I don't really do trading groups unless it's with people that I know as they know I'm a bit particular about the condition of items the majority of the time as I like to backup and document everything fully so it's preferential to not have everything factory sealed but in near mint condition to keep everything neat and tidy whenever possible. Either way, I think this little fiasco just further wards me off from trading groups or especially groups on Facebook.
Honestly put, I can understand if some people might get offered certain things first if they're a known collector of particular items in general. I just dislike the fact that these admins are swooping in before anyone else and are likely reselling stuff on eBay or Gumtree for most likely VGA type stupidity prices compared to the initial amount organized via the group's page. But then again, I typically follow up with collectors' that may have doubles of items I'm looking for that are points where our collecting interests intersect. So forums, private collecting boards per console/series/company or I check constantly for auctions. I tend to avoid groups like that as they just seem particularly dodgy. I mean, if I got an item and I know someone that either collects or is interested in it or whatever series it's from then I'll give them a head's up first and if they don't want it then I'll make a sale topic or post but the ones that I typically know tend to document everything compared to hoarding items for the sake of hoarding.
Well they can stick the group up their ass. If they want to treat others differently due to personal opinion then screw them. Seems I've dodged a bullet then. I wouldn't have a doubt in my mind, they resell on eBay since anything rare they snap up.
To be fair, I wouldn't expect someone to come into my games shop when I worked in one and ask to open up a cartridge... I would expect them to take my word that it's authentic. Likewise, I wouldn't expect a seller to have the right screwdriver to open a SNES cartridge.. maybe I'd be a bit more suspicious if they DID have one, as they have the tools to make repros. Plus, with some carts, you can ruin the label by opening it. Ultimately, if you don't trust a source, don't buy from them. And you're always susceptible to dodgy traders online. So yeah, it sound like no big loss, really. You've still got us! lol
Well the main thing was that the one that Hex and I are both talking about wouldn't even take better pictures to prove it wasn't a fake as it looked dodgy and it's hard to see anything when it's so blurry, my drooling dogs would've taken a better bloody photo. Given he also said he could do repairs and other stuff, opening a cart shouldn't be a big deal as the label was purely on the front but the guy wasn't willing to cooperate in any way and was deleting Hex's posts.
