On Sunday, Futureshop (like bestbuy here in Canada, actually owned by BB also) had an online customer appreciation sale that went on till Monday morning at 10am. Not many good deals other then a 360 elite with 6 games for $300. Anyways, another thing they had on sale is TH: Ride (new) for $50 (+tax, free shipping), for all 3 platforms. I decided to bite the bullet since I knew the game was not good but was curious to check it out. Hell for $50 for mild entertainment and a plastic board why not (can't wait to see my wife play it). Well today my package showed up. I was a little puzzled when I picked up the box from security (i live in a condo building, downstairs accepts packages for us so we don't have to be home for them), I felt it was odd that the box seem overly big for the game (I knew what it looks like in person seeing them stacked up in the corner of game stores). Not to mention the box was really heavy. Well once I got home and opened up the box, to my surprise, there where 4x copies of the game in it. Due to negligence (or a lack of caring) they shipped me the box that the game came in from Activision (which contains 4 units in it). It even has the do not sell before XXX sticker on it. My receipt tacked on to the box shows I only ordered one copy. =/ Here is the lovely proof. I'm not a dick, so I plan to call them up tomorrow and see what they want to do (if they just have me keep them or ship them back, sure that's a lot of $$$ but it's not like they would sell them, they didn't even sell out of stock for the ps3/360 versions during the sale (wii sold out), they still even have over 90 units for 360 and 12 for ps3 according to their site). If they let me keep them, I'm probably just going to give them to local friends/coworkers.
I'm going to call them tomorrow and see what they say. This is kind of heavy and it would suck bawls to have to pay for shipping charges back. On a side note, Played the game a bit with my wife today. She had a lot of fun with it (not much of a gamer or knows anything about skateboarding but she still had tons of fun, I had some fun too when I was more screwing around vs trying to play the game).
Hehe. Not sure if that is possible since the 360 units sold where a special bundle. So they had to realise they where throwing 360 + 4 extra games (since i think 2 came with the system) into a box. What i'm wondering is if anybody else oddly ended up with multiple copies of TH Ride. There should have been like 10-16 orders of the PS3 version that sold (probably x2-x5 that for the Wii). I'm just still baffled someone would not realize they shipped a box with 4 units in it. You would think it would stand out among the other ones being shipped (since even the side of the box list its 4 units).
Amazon did this for eeepcs when they came out, a guy got a box of four as no one had ever seen a nettop before.
Oh minor side note (didn't state this before), I know my shipment wasn't a mix up with someone elses because for the sale it was "limit 1 per household". So nobody would have been able to put in an order for 4 units. Haha, that's kind of funny. In my case though, this is an older game from xmas that I'm sure stores are dying to get rid of (it goes on sale often but usually only $20-$30 off).
Haha, of course the wii version would sell out. Tony Hawk Ride is RIGHT up that Alley. However, if you they tell you "dude, do whatever" I'll let you know right now, I'll take one. I'll pay for shipping and if you want...well, I'll make it worthwhile.
What a surprise! I had a similar thing happen with dealextreme once, they shipped all the stuff I ordered twice.
Obviously, they're doing everything they can to get rid of TH: Ride. Maybe they should've added a few copies of Band Hero too
Well 3 of them are going back. They didn't know of the cock up and at first asked me to take them to a near by store but that's not going to happen (30min walking away, i'd need to take a cab which is $$$ out of my pocket). Anyways now they've given me a return pre-paid mailing slip so I can just drop it off at a near by post office which is just around the block (not so bad). While i'm not fully sure on this (i think it's maybe a miss type) but there is a chance maybe of getting a refund (even though I wasn't charged for the extra units). I have to admit, after a day I kind of question returning because the email response has been meh but I still feel wrong about it and will get them returned (they are not mine to own). I'm still happy with my purchase of the game for $50 and really that's all that should matter in the first place.
Well done for being honest. I myself believe in Karma, and you probably set yourself up for a good event (or missed a bad one).
Why go to the postoffice? if I was you I would of told them to pick it up themselfs or send a courier to your house. I once received a couple of modems from my ISP instead of one, when I called them up they also told me to bring it to the postoffice.. I then replied that I would not spend time going there and they should arrange a pickup. Never heard anything back and still have these things laying around...
Eh it's around the block and on my way to work anyways. I could have called canada post for a pick up but felt it was just easier to just walk it down to the post.
The only reason to do this is to avoid having to pay for them if they ever figure it out. It's perfectly legal for them to charge you for them, and the last thing you need is three copies of a passe game.
