You hand-painted that? Quite nice... I had a screen-printing project not too long ago and now I wish I would've done something like this. Of course, I don't mind having Ian Curtis residing on the back of my hoodie, either. What specific type of paint did you use and where did you get it? I might want to give this a shot when I actually have more than ten minutes to myself.
Yup, the picture was taken in my mirror so it looks flipped. I just went to Joann Crafts (really they should have the same stuff anywhere though) and got matte fabric paints (including neon orange to do a Dreamcast shirt) and the t-shirts were like $4 each. I blew up the Saturn logo on Photoshop, cleaned it up, printed it, and cut the logo from the paper to use as a stencil. If anyone wants to try making their own shirts like this, definitely use a thicker cardboard-like paper because plain, thin paper is a pain in the ass And @taemos, I made a Joy Division shirt once in.... middle school? Except with a sharpie.
Looks nice, but how well does it hold up to washing and drying? Do you have to take special care when washing it, or is the paint pretty resistant? I made a T-shirt once with an iron on transfer, and it made it through about two washings before the print started to mess up. I was just wondering if the paint was any better about holding up to washing and drying.
Iron-on transfers fall apart usually after one wash. They're easy to do but awful in the long run. I haven't washed this shirt yet but it's supposed to be just like screenprinting a shirt professionally. The paint feels the same.
I did a iron on transfers shirt years ago and it still looks great,it the front cover of mega man x7.
^ I wash it all the time like my normal t-shirts,its a little bit faded from over the years but still looks good.I can take a quick pic of the shirt if you want.
yeah that's not looking too hot anymore... of course, that's kind of the style now. xD I have a tshirt for an old website i made, had my URL, a Valkryie from Macross and said "CHICKS DIG GIANT ROBOTS"
My Home of the Underdogs shirt looks like it was an iron-on sort of deal. If it really was screen-printed (and they said it was) then they didn't use the highest quality ink. It's still in pretty good shape, though, just a little faded. I wasn't cool enough in middle school to know about Joy Division. I still listened to whatever "heavy" bands MTV decided to show on TRL. Thankfully I grew up...
