Could be an honest mistake on the email part, my email provider is well known for blocking forum registration emails for example. I usually give people about a week to respond unless there is something obvious happening.

facebook doesnt always sort my most recent, just top stories. Its possible it wasnt seen. Also, I was trying to get in touch with someone via twitter and they didnt see it either.

So while it seems unlikely, its possible

    There are two problems there:

    1) A gift of funds is just that. A gift. Paypal very clearly states that any money sent using the gift function is considered a gift and there is a written trial stating that the payment is a gift.
    2) Anyone who tries to use the gift function to make payment for a purchase is scamming Paypal by using a service without paying for it. It's kinda like stealing cable or (in the UK) not paying your TV license fee by claiming you don't have a TV (when you really do).

Pretty much this. A gift is a gift is a gift.

If people would just pay for the services they use (rather than trying to illegitimately skim a few dollars here and there) you would never see questions like this.

Not really, theft of cable or tv license is illegal. Using paypal gift function is against the TOS, but is not illegal.

As much as corps get to write the laws over there, its not quite that bad yet.

It's not scamming paypal though. The fees are just handled on the sender end rather than the receiver. It works out the same way.

Thats not correct. There are no fees at all if the sender funds from balance or bank. The only fee the buyer sends is if you fund the payment via card, this is because paypal get a card processing fee. Otherwise paypal would lose money.

If you send a goods payment, the fee is paypals.

Yep: my Facebook and Twitter often fails to show me that I have new messages, and even when it does Facebook has a tendency to put my new messages not at the top of the page (and the indicator disappears if I've navigated away even if the message wasn't read). They are not entirely reliable, and I myself have missed important messages due to this failure.

Yup just got them now thankfully tracking number shows up nothing but I'm hoping that's just the royal mail taking their time. Apologies for all of the commotion but hopefully someone learned something from all of this. I know I sure did.
